w DRINKING WATER TREATMENT PLANTS
WhenwetookthedecisiontorefurbishtheLongerondrin-
kingwatertreatmentplant,wechosetheCarboPlus®pro-
cess.
Asadrinkingwatersupplyconcessionholder,wehadtwo
goals:toimprovethetreatmentoforganicmatterandto
treatmicropollutants,especiallypesticides.Thismeant
ensuringthatplantoperationwastotallysafebyaddinga
moduletocopewithpollutionpeaksintheSèvreNantaise
riverfromwhichtheplantdrawsitswater.
WithCarboPlus®,Stereauwasabletoofferatailormade
solutionthatallowedustoaddressbothissuesatonce,
andactaheadoftheforthcomingregulationonmicropol-
lutants.Soweseeitasaninvestmentforthefuture.
Inadditiontotheperformanceandflexibilityofthepro-
cess,whatparticularlyattracteduswasitscompactsize.
NotonlywereweabletoaddtheCarboPlus®moduletoour
plant,butwewerealsoabletoretainenoughlandforafu-
tureplantextension,anddothewholethinginawaythat
integratestheplant
successfullyintothe

StereauhasdesignedanddevelopedtheCarboPlus®process
to removemicropollutantsduring thedrinkingwater
treatmentprocessandtoguaranteedrinkingwaterquality
andconsumersafety.Introducedatthepolishingtreatment
stage,thiscosteffectivesolutioneliminatesabroad
spectrumofmicropollutants,includingphytosanitory
products(pesticides,weedkillers,etc.)anddrugresidues
(anti-epileptics,hormones,tranquillisers,etc.).
Tracesofpesticides,biocides,detergents,drug
residuesandeveryotherkindofmolecules
resultingfromdomestic,agriculturalandin-
dustrialactivityarebeingidentifiedmoreand
morefrequentlyinwaterresources.
Theconcentrationsofthesemicropollutants
maybelow,butthismultiplicityofmolecules
createsacocktailthatposesapotentialriskto

CARBOPLUS® THE SOLUTION FOR MICROPOLLUTANTS
w HEALTH SECURITY
w CONTINUOUSLY EFFICIENT AND RELIABLE
CarboPlus®eliminatesawidespectrumofmicropollutants,
includingphytosanitaryproducts(triazines,ureaderivatives
andtheirdetectableby-products,glyphosate,AMPA,etc.),drug
residues,chlorinatedsolventsandorganochlorinatedchemicals.
Theconstanthighperformancesovertimearebroughtby
threemajorcharacteristics:
w COST EFFICIENT
Simultaneouslyacontactandseparationreactor,CarboPlus®
isexceptionallycompactwithasmallfootprint.Located
upstreamofthefinalfiltrationstage,CarboPlus®iseasyto
installinneworexistingdrinkingwatertreatmentplants.
Itisaprocesswithlowenergyconsumptionandfeworno
reagents.
Itoperatessuccessfullywithawiderangeofactivatedcarbons.
w
1A large mass of activated carbon
inthereactor
3A continuous renewal ofactivated
carbontokeepthesystematmaximumperformance
w EASY TO OPERATE
Thesimplicityofitshydraulicprinciplemeansthattheinside
ofthereactorworkswithoutanyelectromechanicalequip-
ment:thewaterandactivatedcarbonseparatenaturallyby
gravity.Thatmeanslessoperationandmaintenancecosts.
Newcarbonisinjectedautomatically.Carbondosageisadjus-
tabletosuittheinletwaterqualityandcanbeadaptedeasily
toaccommodateseasonalvariationsinrawwater.
Micropollutants are adsorbed onto the activa-
ted carbon. The tracked molecules are neither
concentrated nor converted to toxic or mutage-
nic by-products, but completely removed from the
water.
CarboPlus® is an investment for the future, because
it anticipates a tighter driking water regulation fra-
