cara Print 4.0 is an easily operated, high-precision, 3D printer to be used by trainedprofessionals in dental manufacturing environments.

cara Print 4.0 has an integrated controller installed inside the printer casing. The software required for all the operations is pre-installed and ready for use.

The provided AC/DC power supply has been tested and is considered part of theequipment.

2.2 Transport Damage

Upon receipt of the equipment, check the unit for transport damage. If damage is foundto either the equipment or its shipping container, accept the unit with caution. Reportthe potential damages to the forwarder and Kulzer within 24 hours after receiving theunit.

CAUTION

Do not work with a damaged unit under any circumstances.

2.3 Operator's Obligations

In addition to complying with the statutory regulations specified by the manufacturer,the operator must ensure the statutory obligations are observed and implemented atthe work place, i.e. the operator must train personnel and comply with industrial safetylegislation and any other regulations or laws in force.

For working at and with the machine, the operator must draw up written instructions inan understandable form and give these to the employees in their own language. Theseinstructions must be based on the cara Print 4.0 Instructions for Use and shall be writtenconsidering the work to be performed.

2.4 Operations and Maintenance Log Book

Kulzer GmbH recommends the operator keeps a log book for the cara Print 4.0. All testson the equipment, necessary or suggested compliance testing, and essential works (e.g.repair work, modifications) should be documented in this book.

2.5 Safety information

Safety concerning the protection of persons, the environment and the material to beprocessed mainly depends on the behavior of the persons operating the unit.

WARNING

No modifications of this equipment is allowed.

CAUTION

Prior to operation, read the cara Print 4.0 Instructions for Use carefully. Adhere to theinformation provided to avoid errors, equipment damage, and injury to the operator.

In addition to the information in these work instructions, relevant national laws andguidelines must be observed for setting up and operating this unit (technical connectionrequirements of the electrical supply companies, etc.).

CAUTION

The connecting power supply cable and plug must be checked for damage prior tooperation. If any damage exists, the unit must not be connected to the mains. A damaged mains power supply may only be replaced by a mains power supply of thesame type.

Failure to comply increases risk of electrical shock and serious harm of operator,patient or third parties.

WARNING

To avoid risk of electric shock, this equipment must only be connected to a supplymains with protective earth.

WARNING DISCONNECT FROM MAINS

Maintenance and repair of the electrical equipment of the unit must only be performedby Kulzer in the “safe” condition (voltage cleared and unit unplugged from mains).Service agents must observe the safety instructions when performing service to theelectrical equipment.

CAUTION

Proper function and safety of the unit are only guaranteed if the required tests,maintenance and repair work have been performed by Kulzer.

NOTE

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digitaldevice, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to providereasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. Thisequipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installedand used in accordance with the Instructions for Use, may cause harmful interference toradio communications. However, there is no guarantee that the interference will notoccur in an individual installation.

If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception,which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouragedto try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

· Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.

· Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.

· Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that of the receiver.

· Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

If this equipment is receiving interference that affects the cara Print 4.0, the user isencouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the followingmeasures:

· Reorient or relocate the printer or emitting equipment.

· Increase the separation between the printer and emitting equipment.

· Isolate the printer and emitting equipment from each other, setting up in separaterooms if possible.

3 Intended Use and Proper Operation3.1 Intended Use

The cara Print 4.0 printer utilizes light to print 3-d objects in a photoinitiated liquidtransformed into dental appliances that are then used for medical applications such as:Splints, Night Guards, Surgical Drilling Guides, Impression Trays, Temporary Crowns andBridges, Models and Partial Dentures (for model casting). Printing is done by trainedprofessionals in dental manufacturing environments (eg. dental laboratories, dentists).

The unit is not suitable nor intended for printing any other type of object, nor is itintended for any other use or purpose.

NOTE

Any printed 3D dental object must be post cured with an appropriate post-curing device.For Kulzer liquids we strictly recommend to use Hilite® power 3D device.

It is mandatory to observe and follow material application instructions for post curingprocess completely, e.g. post-curing times, positioning, max. temperature, light intensity& spectrum.

Instruction for use of post curing devices must be observed in parallel. Kulzer will notbecome liable for incomplete or wrong production process accompany 3D printing.

3.2 Proper Operation

CAUTION

The unit is suitable to be set up and operated either in dental labs or a dental practice.The unit has been designed for continuous operation.

· Only clean dental material specifically designed for the cara Print 4.0 shall be used.

· Remove the printed item and cured resin from the printer when printing is completed.

· Do not attempt to remove printed item from Print Table while Print Table remainsinstalled in the printer.

· Read and follow safety instructions of every liquid material in use. Wear personalprotective items if requested and strictly follow instructions for handling, storage anddisposal of material.

· Printing material must be kept from exposure of ambient light (e.g. artificial lighting,direct sunlight) while not being used for printing. Printing material shall be stored insuitable storage containers that do not allow exposure to ambient light.

· It is mandatory to close the front door before starting the print. The unit operates onlywhen the front door is completely closed.

NOTE

Do not install additional software if not authorized by Kulzer GmbH.

Check that all components are in good condition upon delivery of the machine. If items are missing or damaged, contact your supplier.

Manufacturer and electrical specification information (Product Identification Label) canbe found on the printer rear panel. An example of this label is shown in section “productlabel” of this Instructions for Use.

NOTE

If requesting technical assistance, always take note concerning the model number andserial number of the device. Write the information in the space provided on the insideof the front cover of this manual.

6 Transport and Installation6.1 Transport

· Transport the unit oriented properly to prevent damage.

· Maximum stacking level of devices for shipment – 3 Levels.

· Do not stack additional items or shipments on top of devices.

· Protect from rain.

· Mechanical shock must be avoided.

· Storage and Transport temperature should not be less than 0°C (32°F) or more than40°C (104°F).

6.2 Unpacking

The cara Print 4.0 unit is shipped inside a cardboard shipping box. A cutter is required toopen it.

CAUTION

The cara Print 4.0 printer is a precision instrument. Care must be taken to handle theprinter gently during unpacking and set-up.

1. Cut the tape that secures the top flaps of the shipping box.

2. Remove Accessory kit, IFU Installation Instruction Sheet and top pieces of shippingstabilizing foam from the shipping box.

3. Remove the printer from the box. Position the printer on a stable, stationary support(table, counter top, etc. with a load bearing capacity of at least 40 kg (88 lbs).

NOTE

Keep the shipping packaging in case you need to ship the printer for technicalassistance.

6.3 Hardware Setup

· The printer must be placed on a solid, rigid, level and skid-proof surface (laboratorydesks, racks) so that a horizontal, safe, vibration-free position is ensured.

· The printer or material vat should not be placed directly in the sunlight or close to abright light source.

· The printer shall be placed in a location that is dry. It shall not encounter liquids orfluid leaks.

· The printer shall be installed in a low dust environment. When not in use, the frontdoor shall be closed, and the material vat shall be covered.

· The room temperature should not be less than 15°C (59°F) or more than 35°C (95°F).The humidity should be less than 80 %.

· The support surface shall be stationary (no castors) and must have a load bearingcapacity of at least 40 kg (88 lbs).

CAUTION

· Take care not to pinch your fingers when placing the printer on the table.

· Air inlet and outlet openings in the housing of the unit (rear surface) must not becovered or blocked. The rear of the unit must be at least 100 mm away from any wallto avoid blocking air outlet of the built-in fan. A footprint area (w x d: 750 x 750 mm) isrequired.

· The printer needs to be positioned on the support table in a manner that allows accessto the mains socket for disconnection from mains if needed.

· Do not initialize the printer prior to acclimatization.

To properly set up the hardware, connect the cara Print 4.0 to an AC power socket (A)using ONLY the power supply (either model #MeanWell GSM60A12-P1J or #MeanWellGSM90A12-P1M) and cord provided with the cara Print 4.0 printer. Mains: 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz with protective earth. Connect to mains with protectiveearth in accordance with local power supply specifications.

Insert the barrel connector of the provided power supply into the barrel jack in the caraPrint 4.0 printer (B).

NOTE

As with most computer equipment, it is recommended that the operator suppliesadequate surge protection and short term power backup to allow slow system shut-down.

CAUTION

· Do not use any type of extension cord other than a surge protection cord.

· Do not directly connect the device to any type of emergency backup generator that isnot connected to mains power.

NOTE

If additional hardware is installed, it could cause malfunctions to the system. Do notinstall any other additional hardware if not authorized by Kulzer GmbH.

7 Operation7.1 Turning the Printer “ON”

Turn “on” the rear mains On/Off switch.The Function Button on the front of theprinter will illuminate and fade to “off”multiple times while the system boots up.Initial startup may take several minutes.For Button Illumination codes, see Section”Function Button”.

7.2 Waking the Printer from Stand-By Mode

Press the Function Button to end Stand-ByMode. When in Stand-By Mode, the LEDring on the Function Button ebbs on for 1½second, ebbs off for ½ second and repeats.For Button Illumination codes, see Section ”Function Button”.

7.3 Turning Printer “OFF”

Turn “off” the rear mains On/Off switch.

7.4 Preparing the Printer for permanent Shutdown

If the printer is out of use for an extended period of time (> 8 hours):

· Turn off the rear On/Off switch.

· Unplug the mains connecting cable.

· Clean the print chamber (see section “Cleaning”).

· Place the Vat cover on the Material Vat or completely clean the Material Vat free ofmaterial.

· Close the front door of the printer.

7.5 “Function Button” Functions and Corresponding LED Ring IlluminationCodes

The Function Button:

· Activates the touchscreen display and ends Stand-by Mode when pressed – Light turnssolid On.

· Returns printer into Stand-By Mode when pressed – Light ebbs On and Off in a slowcycle.

· Pauses printing when pressed once while printer is printing – Light blinks On and Off.

· Re-starts paused printing when pressed again – Light turns on for approximately 1 second, turns off ½ second, then repeats throughout duration of printing.

· Indicates printer is printing – Light turns on for approximately 1 second, turns off ½ second, then repeats throughout duration of printing.

· Indicates printer is finished printing – Light blinks ½ second On, ½ second Off, repeat.

· Indicates door open during printing – Light blinks ¼ second On, ¼ second Off, repeat.

7.7 Interface Misuse

USB connections on the printer are for file transfer purposes ONLY. Do not use USB 2.0or 3.0 portable dongles for mobile Internet. Do not use the USB port to connect directlyto a computer, laptop or device other than a USB storage device dedicated for filetransfers between the cara Print 4.0 and a computer or laptop.

The Ethernet connection on the rear of the printer is for connection to a network for filetransfer and additional remote control of the printer via Kulzer GmbH approved softwareinstalled on a connected PC or Laptop.

NOTE

Improper usage of the USB or Ethernet connector will cause damage to the printer.Damage caused by improper usage of the USB connection will nullify any warranty onthe equipment.

7.8 Configurations of Operations

The cara Print 4.0 can be operated either as a stand-alone unit or networked with acomputer operating the cara Print CAM software. Print files and print materialinformation can be uploaded to the cara Print 4.0 in two different manners.

7.8.1 Stand-Alone Configuration

Print files must be loaded on the cara Print4.0 via USB mass storage device. USBstorage device shall be USB 2.0, FAT32formatted. USB 3.0 drives are reverted toUSB 2.0 and can be utilized.

The cara Print 4.0 can be networked with acomputer or laptop through a commonrouter.

8 Safety Features8.1 Safety Features

· Safety switch on front door stops printer operation.

· Design prohibits projector light from shining in operator’s eyes.

As a precaution, Service Technicians should wear protective eyewearwhen servicing mains connected equipment.

8.2 Operational Safety Features

· After completion of printing an object, printer cannot print another object until thedoor has been opened and closed. It is the responsibility of the operator to removethe printed object from the Print Table and clean the Print Table prior to startinganother print job.

· If mains power is interrupted while the printer is printing, the print automaticallyaborts, and the printer assumes a “Safe” condition once power is restored.

The “Safe” condition is defined as:

o Print Table and printed object will automatically raise away from the vat,

o Touchscreen will display the Print Completed Successfully screen as shown in Section“Printing”,

o Printer will not print again until door has been opened and shut.

9.4 Primary Menu

This page is the main starting point for allactions and inputs for the operator. Fromhere, the pages for starting a print,transferring files, changing the settings, andviewing the printer’s history can all beaccessed.

9.5 Connecting to a Network

NOTE

If utilizing the cara Print 4.0 as a Stand Alone printer as shown in Section “Stand aloneconfiguration”, skip to Section “Adding a print object via USB device”.

9.5.1 Wi-Fi/Ethernet Selection

Press the Settings icon on the PrimaryMenu page. The touchscreen will display theSettings menu.

Select either “Wi-Fi” or “Ethernet” by touching the box to the right of whichevernetwork connection type is desired. Initializing the printer for the selected networkconnection type may take a few moments. Once the network connection type has beeninitialized, the operator may press the Advanced field on the touchscreen to displayadditional information about the network connection type that was selected.

9.5.2 Advanced Ethernet Network Connection

Pressing the Advanced field after selectingthe Ethernet box will display the AdvancedEthernet Settings page.

Many Ethernet settings are displayed. Theoperator can select each setting field ifdesired and change them if needed. Once theproper settings are displayed, press Apply.

NOTE

· It is often best to press the box to the right of “Auto (DHCP)” and “Apply” to allowthe network to establish the IP address.

· For Ethernet to work properly, an Ethernet cord must connect the 3-D printer to thenetwork on which the cara Print 4.0 desktop software is running.

9.5.3 Advanced Wi-Fi Network Connection

If a Wi-Fi Network is selected, the Wi-FiNetwork and Wi-Fi Password fields will bedisplayed on the Settings page.

The operator must enter a valid Wi-FiNetwork name in the Wi-Fi Network field.

A list of active Wi-Fi networks will be displayed if the operator presses the field to theright of Wi-Fi Network on the Settings page. Once the desired Wi-Fi Network is found onthe list, the operator can select it by touching the name on the touchscreen. Theselected Wi-Fi Network will be displayed in the field to the right of Wi-Fi Network on theSettings page.

If the network selected is a secure network, a password must be provided. To enter apassword, press Wi-Fi Password field and enter the password.

By selecting Advanced on the Settings page,the Advanced Wi-Fi Settings page will bedisplayed.

On this page, the operator may manuallyenter the IP address, the Gateway IP addressand the Subnet Mask.

NOTE

· Instead of manually entering the addresses and information in the setting fields, it isoften best to press the box to the right of “Auto (DHCP)” and “Apply” to allow thenetwork to establish the IP addresses.

· For Wi-Fi to work properly, there must be a wireless network to which the printercan connect. Additionally, the desktop software must be running on a computer thatis connected to the same network.

9.6 Adding a Print Object Via USB Device

Print objects can be added to the cara Print4.0 printer via USB Device whether theprinter is being used in either the “StandAlone” or “Networked” Configuration.

Insert a USB Device in the USB port on thefront of the cara Print 4.0 printer.

Press the USB Transfer icon on the Primary Menu page. The touchscreen will displaythe USB Transfer menu. Files that are located on the USB drive will display under USBMemory. Select the file to transfer. A pop-up menu will ask if you want to transfer theselected file. Select “Yes”.

9.8 Inserting and Positioning Print Vat

NOTE

Inspect material and vat for contaminants prior to use. DO NOT USE MATERIAL THATCONTAINS CURED PARTICLES, CURED PIECES, PARTS OR CONTAMINANTS. Material canbe filtered by the operator using some of the components listed in the Accessory Kit.

Fill the print Vat with only clean, approved material. Pour clean material to the “Max Fill” line indicated in the Vat reservoir.

NOTE

Do not overfill Vat. Overfill of the vat will cause overflow spillage.

Slide Vat into printing position in the Build Chamber. Vat flanges should slide under vatclamp plates. Slide in Vat until it snaps into place, and the green line on the Entry Label isvisible.

9.9 Inserting and Securing Print Table

Slide the Print Table (B) into position on theArm Assembly inside the Build Chamber untilthe Print Table hits the end of travel on theArm Assembly.

Once seated on the Arm Assembly properly,secure the Print Table on the Arm Assemblyby hand tightening the Lock Knob (A). Turnthe Lock Knob clockwise to tighten. Do notover-tighten Lock Knob.

NOTE

Not pushing the Print Table to the final end of travel or not tighten the lock knob maydamage the vat and/or lift mechanism when starting print process. This nullifies anywarranty!

9.10 Printing an Object

9.10.1 Print Library

Touching the Library File Folder icon on thePrimary Menu touchscreen page will directthe operator to the Print Library page asshown.

This page is the first step of the printingprocess. From here a print file can beselected for printing.

On the left is the list of print files that the operator has loaded and are available forprinting. This page allows the operator to sort the order of the print files in the file list.Pressing the field above the list of print files (A) changes the sort criteria. Pressing thesmall arrow (B) located in the right of that field changes the print file order (eitherascending or descending). The pane on the right of the screen provides a snapshot (C) ofwhat the item to be printed should look like upon completion.

Pressing on the print picture in the right panewill illuminate hidden menu icons.

Pressing Delete will delete the print job.

Pressing Information will direct theoperator to a window detailing importantinformation about the print object. See theexample “SupportedCaps” informationwindow.

Pressing anywhere else in the right pane fieldof the Library page will hide the Delete and Information menu icons.

9.10.2 Material and Quality

By selecting Continue on the Print Libraryscreen, the operator will be directed to the Material and Quality screen. On this screen,the operator can select the approvedmaterial with which the part will be printedand the height of the print cross-section.

Use only clean Kulzer GmbH approved print material. A list of approved print materialand their profiles can be found at www.kulzer.com

9.10.3 Prepare for Printing

By selecting Continue on the Material andQuality screen, the operator will be directedto the Prepare For Printing screen. This pagegives the operator an overview of the printparameters selected by the operator for theobject to be printed.

CAUTION

· Before pressing Print please check that the Print Table is clean and that there are noparticles visible in the resin.

9.10.4 Printing

By pressing Print on the Prepare For Printingpage, the operator will be directed to thePrinting page. This page shows the status,speed and progress of the print process.

The operator can Pause (A) or Abort (B) theprint process.

Pressing the Pause area (A) will momentarily halt the printing process. Printing can becontinued when the operator is prepared to do so.

Opening the print chamber Door will also pause the print. Closing the door willautomatically resume the printing process. Open the door only when necessary.

NOTE

Pausing a print can cause a deformity or undesirable feature in the printed object.Avoid pausing the print if a precise printed object is needed. Operator must determineif paused print has affected the quality of the printed object.

Pressing the Abort (B) area will completely stop the printing process. The printer willstop printing, and the failed/aborted print part must be removed from the Print Table.

Upon completion of the print job or afterchoosing to Abort a print, the touchscreenwill display the Print Finished page.

9.11 Removing the Print Table and Printed Object from the Printer

Upon completion of a print or after anaborted print, the Print Table with attachedprinted object must be removed from theBuild Chamber. Loosen Lock Knob (A) byturning it counterclockwise one turn. SlidePrint Table (B) out the front of BuildChamber.

NOTE

Do not remove Lock Knob from Print Table Assembly.

9.12 Removing the Printed Object from the Print Table

Once the Print Table is removed from the Build Chamber, use a plastic Print Scraper orPlastic Blade to scrape or pry the printed object (A) from the Print Table (B).

Remove all cured and uncuredmaterial from the Print Table.See Section ”Cleaning” fordetailed instructions.

NOTE

DO NOT use metal scrapers or tools to remove printed objects from the Print Table.Metal scrapers or tools will damage the Print Table.

9.13 Changing Printer Name

Select Settings on the Primary Menu.Press Machine Info. Select Custom Namefield. Type in desired printer name (MyB9C_2.0_HK in this example).

9.14 Changing Printer Language

Select Settings on the Primary Menu.Press Language. Select the desired languagefrom the available list.

9.15 Password Protecting the Printer

Select Settings on the Primary Menu.Press Security. Select box next to NetworkPassword Protection if you desire topassword protect your printer. Select Password. Enter your desired password.

9.16 Factory Reset

Select Settings on the Primary Menu. Press Reset to return to Factory Settings.

NOTE

Only press Reset at the request of Kulzer. Saved files, material specifications and printhistory may be deleted. Reset to default factory settings may lead to incorrectadjustments and, as a result, incorrect printing of objects.

10 cara Print CAM Desktop Application – PrintManager

10.1 Introduction

To create printable models for the cara Print 4.0, the cara Print CAM software packagemust be loaded on a laptop or desktop computer. The software allows the operator toimport .stl files. It also allows the operator to manage and adjust the associated modelsthat will be printed on the cara Print 4.0.

10.2 Initial Printer Set-Up

The first time that the cara Print CAMsoftware is opened, the cara Home Pagewindow will be displayed. When a printeris connected, models to be printed andmaterial specifications can be uploadedto and downloaded from it onto thecomputer running the cara Print CAMsoftware. Additionally, printer statisticsand print history can also be seen.

10.2.1 Automatic Connection

If a cara Print 4.0 is on the same networkas the computer running the cara PrintCAM software, it will connectautomatically.

10.2.2 Manual Connection

If the cara Print 4.0 printer does notautomatically connect, a networkconnected printer can be added byentering its IP address. By selecting the Connect button or the Connect to aPrinter button, the Connect to Printerwindow will be displayed.

Type in the IP address of the printer in the field to the right of IP Address on the Connectto Printer window.

NOTE

If a cara Print 4.0 printer does not connect automatically or is not shown in the“Connect to Printer” window, check the printer to insure it is powered and connectedto the network. See Section ”connecting to a network” of this manual to connect aprinter to the network.

10.3 Opening an Existing Print File

The Print Library tab displays all theprints currently on the selected printer.Select the desired print file from the listof Prints displayed.

10.4 Transferring a Print File to a Printer

Once a print is selected, it must be transferred to a printer so it can get printed. This isdone either via USB device or Network Connection.

10.4.1 Transfer Via USB Device

The print file can be transferred from the Computer to the cara Print 4.0 by utilizing aUSB drive. Save the print file on the USB drive, then insert the USB drive into the USBport on the front of the cara Print 4.0. Refer to section ”Adding a print object via USBdevice”.

10.4.2 Transfer Via Network Connection

On a network connected computer and cara Print 4.0 printer, files may beuploaded directly from the computer tothe printer. To upload the selected printto the printer, press the Upload Print toPrinter button in the bottom right of thescreen. This will display a file dialogwhich allows the operator to selectwhich print is to be transferred.

After a print is selected, the transfer will begin. No prints can be downloaded oruploaded until the transfer has completed.

NOTE

· It is not possible to transfer prints to a printer that is printing.

· An existing .STL model file is required to create a print file.

Firmware updates for the cara Print 4.0 can be accessed by using an internet connectedcomputer running the cara Print CAM software. Firmware updates are downloadedautomatically to the computer when the cara Print CAM is opened.

10.5.1 Firmware Update Via USB Device

Insert a USB drive into the USB port onthe computer.

Select Settings on the cara Print CAMmain page. The Settings page will bedisplayed. Press Show Firmware UpdateFile to display available firmwareupdates. Select the desired update fileand transfer it to the inserted USB drivelisted on the computer’s drive list.

Insert the USB drive into the USB port onthe front of the cara Print 4.0. SeeSection ”Adding a print object via USBdevice” for transfer instructions. Thefirmware update will show in the list offiles under USB Memory.

10.5.2 Firmware Update Via Network Connection

If the cara Print 4.0 and computer areconnected to the same network,available firmware updates will bedisplayed automatically in the UpdateFirmware field on the Print Manager (A).

11 cara Print CAM Desktop Application – Print Editor11.1 Loading a File into the Print Editor

Click the Print Editor button that is foundnear the top right of the Printer Managerwindow to open the Print Editor window.

11.1.1 Adding an .STL file

To add an .STL fileto the Print Editor,select the ADD (A)button andnavigate to the filefolder thatcontains thedesired .STL file.

The .STL file cannotbe created in thisapplication.

NOTE

Only .STL files may be used for print files. Multiple .STL files can be added to the ModelList.

11.1.2 Loading an Existing Print File into the Print Editor

A file dialog window will open to allow the operator to navigate to the desired print file.

Select the desired print file and press the Add button.

11.2 Positioning and Scaling Models for Print Optimization

Models can beoriented andpositioned tooptimize theprinted object.

The Orientationsection of the toolbar (A) describesand allows thedesired action tothe model.

The model may be manipulated utilizing the mouse on the computer or by enteringvalues in the specific fields of the Model Information area (B).

NOTE

· It is best to utilize the Indication Guide provided by Kulzer to properly position thedesired indication to be printed.

· The model(s) must fit inside the “Print Box” in order to completely print. The “PrintBox” is shown as the thin lined box in the graphics. If model extends outside of “PrintBox,” the box face that is intersected by the model will turn red.

11.3 Add Supports

To print properly, the model must be supported. Select the model.

The selected model will turn Purple.

11.4 Slicing the Model

To prepare a printfor a printer touse, it must beSliced. To slice theprint, press the Slice field (A). Themodel may takeseveral minutes toSlice.

Once Slicing iscompleted, theoperator may viewthe slices.

Save your file.

The model file is now ready to be transferred to the printer. See Section ”Adding a PrintObjet via USB dervice” for instructions on transferring files for printing.

12 Maintenance and Care12.1 Cleaning

12.1.1 Cleaning the Printer

Clean the cara Print 4.0 using the provided microfiber cloth. Microfiber cloth can be usedto clean accessible components and surfaces in the Build Chamber and on the exterior ofthe printer.

NOTE

· Always use separate cloths for interior and exterior cleaning. A damp, solvent-freemicrofiber cloth shall be used.

· Do NOT use solvents to clean the cara Print 4.0. The cara Print 4.0 and print vats neednot be disinfected.

· For cleaning the touchscreen, always use a new, clean cloth. Contamination of thetouchscreen with material may damage the device.

· Use cloth towels to clean up large spills inside the printer. The use of paper towelswill introduce dust contaminants into the printer and may scratch critical glasssurfaces.

12.1.2 General Vat Cleaning

The vat and material held in the vat shall be inspected by the operator after every use. Cured material either attached to the aperture or suspended in the liquid materialMUST be removed prior to beginning a print.

NOTE

Failure to remove cured material will cause damage to the vat.

To remove cured material that is adhered to the aperture, drain the liquid materialthrough the provided filter into a clean bottle. Clean the excess liquid material with aclean cloth. Place the edge of a Plastic Blade supplied in the accessory kit gently on theaperture of the vat near an easily accessible edge of the cured material that is adheredto the aperture. Carefully and gently slide the edge of the Plastic Blade under the edge ofthe cured material. Once the blade is under the edge, pinch the material to the edge ofthe blade with the tip of your finger and pull the blade away from the aperture to gentlyseparate the cured material from the aperture. Use extreme caution and care whenremoving cured material from the aperture.

NOTE

· Do not scratch the aperture surface.

· Do not use any tools to remove cured material from the aperture.

The vat should be cleaned frequently. If material is present in the vat, pour the materialthrough the Material Strainer and Funnel into a clean bottle. Wipe excess material out ofthe vat with a clean towel. Do not wipe the glass aperture of the vat with disposabletowel. Clean aperture with a clean microfiber cloth dampened with isopropyl.

CAUTION

Wear protective gloves when using Isopropyl alcohol.

12.1.3 Print Table Cleaning

NOTE

Remove Print Table from Printer print chamber for cleaning.

CAUTION

Wear protective gloves when using Isopropyl alcohol.

Print Table shall be cleaned after each print. Clean all cured and uncured material fromthe Print Table. Use of Isopropyl alcohol is acceptable to aid in cleaning Print Table. Useonly plastic razor blades or plastic scrapers when cleaning Print Table.

NOTE

Do not use metal scrapers or metal tools to clean Print Table.

12.2 Maintenance

12.2.1 Air Filters

Clean or replace air filters on the back of the cara Print 4.0 every 3 months. Clean the airfilter by blowing it out with clean, oil-free compressed air away from the cara Print 4.0 ina well ventilated area.

NOTE

Carefully remove filters so the captured dust is not disturbed.

12.2.2 Vat Replacement

Replace the Vat when:

· Aperture contacting the print material becomes damaged.

· Seal around aperture leaks.

· Flanges that align the vat in its proper position in the print chamber become damagedor worn.

· Vat material reservoir becomes damaged, causing leaks.

12.3 Wearing Parts

There are no replaceable electronic parts or replaceable wear parts except the vat on thecara Print 4.0. All parts are rated for long life. The cara Print 4.0 is designed for anestimated operation time of 20,000 hours of intended use. Items in need of replacementmust be replaced by Kulzer service staff only.

13 Work Flow for Printing

NOTE

Any printed 3D dental object must be post cured with an appropriate post-curing device.For Kulzer liquids we strictly recommend to use Hilite® power 3D device.

It is mandatory to observe and follow material application instructions for post curingprocess completely, e.g. post-curing times, positioning, max. temperature, light intensity& spectrum.

Instruction for use of post curing devices must be observed in parallel. Kulzer will notbecome liable for incomplete or wrong production process accompany 3D printing.

Turn printer “Off” for 10 minutes, insure air filters are clean and unblocked if ErrorCode displayed is:

ERROR – MAX LED TEMP EXCEEDED, ABORTING PRINT.

Printer will attempt to recover. Re-boot if needed if Error Code displayed is:

ERROR – Internal Failure. Attempting to recover. May require restart.

17 Tips and Tricks

· Do not select “Factory Reset” unless necessary. Saved files, material specifications andprint history may be deleted.

· In general, do not orient critical fit models vertically or horizontally in cara Print CAMPrint Editor. Orient as symmetrically as possible at an angle between 30 and 60degrees.

· Orient models so the non-critical features face the Print Table.

· Attach supports to non-critical features when possible.

· Use the cara Print CAM Print Editor “Help” tab for useful information.
