Car Maintenance You Can Do To Save Money

When it comes to car maintenance, the difference between the first car I owned and

vehicles produced today is huge.

With the advent of computer technology and its integration into our cars and trucks, car maintenance has become much more

complex than was the case in the past.

There are still some things, however, that most of can do, and in the process we can save ourselves some money rather than

having the work done by a trained mechanic.

Have you ever heard of a pediddle? It is a

slang term for a burnt out headlight on a

car.

I once told an old girlfriend that seeing a pediddle meant that I needed to kiss her for

good luck and it worked like a charm.

If you car has a pediddle, then it is really rather simple to install a replacement

headlight yourself.

Car Maintenance Made Easy

I recommend using gloves when you replace a headlight, as these lights are usually

halogen and the use of gloves with prevent you from transferring oil from your hand onto the bulb which can shorten its life.

You can access the headlight from the engine compartment and begin by

unplugging the electrical connection on the rear of the bulb.

Then you just unscrew the plastic ring that holds the existing bulb in place and reverse these two steps and you are done, no more

pediddle.

Worn out wiper blades can make it difficult to see the road when it is raining.

To replace wiper blades it could not

be simpler.

You just unsnap the existing wiper blade and snap the new wiper blade in place.

This whole procedure will take you less than one minute to complete.

A Clean Air Filter Should Be Part Of Your Regular Car Maintenance

Since our vehicles are all equipped with combustion engines, they need plenty of

oxygen supplied to them to work properly.

This oxygen needs to be as free from contaminants as possible and this is where

the engine air filter comes into play.

This is found under the hood and you should look for a large, rectangular housing that

stores the air filter.

Once you locate it, you simply unscrew the bolts or remove the clips around the edges

to remove the cover of the housing.

Once you have removed the cover you simply remove the old air filter and replace it

with a new one.

This procedure will take you no more than 3 to 4 minutes and your vehicle will be

breathing a lot easier as a result.

You see, there is nothing difficult about you doing this type of car maintenance yourself and you will save time and money as result.
