Captain Sardar Zain Muhammad Khan (OBI) Capt Sardar Zain Muhammad khan (OBI) was one of the earliest parliamentarians of NWFP.At the time of the independence movement in 1940s Capt Sardar Zain Muhammad khan was the elder and leader of the important Karlal tribe in District Hazara. Congress was the most popular as well as the ruling party in defunct NWFP now Khyber Pukhtunkhaw at that juncture. However in 1940 when the Muslim League passed the Pakistan resolution on 23 march 1940 and afterwards started the struggle for a separate homeland for the muslims in subcontinent Capt Sardar Zain Muhammad khan was the one of the most prominent tribal elder in district Hazara who along with his tribe joined the flanks of all India Muslim league .In spite of the strong support of the congress by the more populace tribes of District Hazara Capt Sardar Zain Muhammad khan was able to motivate his entire tribe for cause of the creation of Pakistan and along with the help of other Muslim league leaders of that time specially Jalaluddin Khan alis Jalal baba ,Mulvi Muhammad Ishaq and Fakira khan was able to make Muslim league as the most popular political party of District Harara and only political party having following in the hilly areas of Abbottabad known as Galyat or Gallies.In 1945 Capt Sardar Zain Muhammad khan was appointed as member of All India Muslim League organizing committee by Quaid –e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. In the elections of 1946 Capt Sardar Zain Muhammad Khan was not only made member of the frontier Muslim league parliamentary board by the Quaid-e- Azam but was also awarded Muslim league ticket from the Abbottabad,s lone rural constituency. Captain Sardar Zain Muhammad Khan also has the unique honor of representing Hazara District in the historic Delhi All India Muslim Parliamentarians convention held in April 1946 under the chairmanship of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah which finally voted for the partition of

India and creation of Pakistan .

In the civil disobedience movement started by Muslim League in NWFP now Khyber Pukhtunkhaw against Congress government Capt Sardar Zain Muhammad khan was imprisoned along with Jalal Baba and Sardar Bahadur Khan in February 1947.After the creation of Pakistan Capt Sardar Zain Muhammad Khan also served as Parliamentary Secretary for education in NWFP government and in this capacity established and improved many educational institutions in NWFP. Capt Sardar Zain Muhammad Khan died in June 1960 and was buried in his family graveyard at Nawanshere Abbottabad.
