PRONOMBRES DE OBJETO DIRECTO VS INDIRECTO
DIRECT OBJET (PRONOUN)
• Answers Whom/What? in relation to the verb.
me mete you lo/la you, him, her, itnos uslos/las you, them
INDIRECT OBJECT (PRONOUN)
• Answers To whom? or For whom? in relation to the verb.
me to me, for mete to you, for youle to you/her/him, for…nos to us, for us les to you/them, for
you/them

OBJETO DIRECTO VS OBJETO INDIRECTO
MARÍA VE LAS MANZANAS
MARÍA HABLA A SU GATO

SUJETO – VERBO – OBJETO INDIRECTO

OBJETO DIRECTO VS OBJETO INDIRECTO
MARÍA LEE EL PERIODICO A SU GATO
SUJETO – VERBO – OBJETO DIRECTO
OBJETO INDIRECTO
There can be a direct object and an indirect object in the same sentence.
5
OBJETO INDIRECTO
• Because Indirect Object is always* a person:• A + INDIRECT OBJECT
• Maria loves her father.
– MARÍA HABLA A SU PADRE– MARÍA LE HABLA (A SU PADRE)
So, no matter what (Direct or Indirect Object) when the verb has effect over a person/s, you always add A.
*not really, but almost
6
PRONOMBRES DE OBJETO INDIRECTO
• The same as Direct-Object pronouns, Indirect-Object pronouns are always placed directly in front of a conjugated verb, but may be attached to the end of an infinitive or a present participle.
María habla a su padre. María le habla. María quiere hablarle. (hablar = infinitive) María está hablándole. (hablando = present participle)
Again, no matter what (Direct or Indirect Object) you can put the pronoun in front of the verb (or the verbs!)
María le quiere hablar. (hablar = infinitive) María le está hablando. (hablando = present participle) 7
GUSTAR
• When talking about one thing, the singular form, gusta, is used. (A mí) me gusta el fútbol.
• When talking about multiple things, the plural form, gustan, is used. (A mí) me gustan los deportes.
• When talking about more than one activity (infinitive verb), the singular form, gusta, is used. (A mí) me gusta nadar y correr.
Yo A mí me gusta
Tú A ti te gusta
Usted, Él/Ella A usted, él, ella le gusta
Nosotros/nosotras A nosotros, nosotras nos gusta
Ustedes, Ellos/ellas A ustedes, ellos, ellas les gusta
9
GUSTAR
A MARÍA LE GUSTAN LAS MANZANAS
OBJETO INDIRECTO – VERBO – SUJETO
• Again, because the Indirect Object is always a person• A + INDIRECT OBJECT
• An indirect object pronoun always precedes the verb:
me, te, le, nos, os, les
So this is a special case where we need both the Indirect object and the Indirect Object pronoun.

Whenever two object pronouns beginning with the letter L ocurr together in a sentence, the indirect-object pronoun (le-les) changes to “se”.
Since “se” may refer to “le” or “les” it is often necessary to use the preposition “a” plus a noun to clarify its meaning.
The order is always: SUJETO O INDIRECTO O DIRECTO VERBO
