2. Summary of significant accounting policies

These financial statements, prepared in accordance withCanadian generally accepted accounting principles, includeestimates and assumptions by management that affect thereported amount of assets, liabilities, income and expenses duringthe reporting period. Actual results may differ from estimates. Thefollowing is a summary of significant accounting policies followedby the Funds.

Investments and investment income

Investments in securities are recorded at closing market prices onnational or foreign securities exchanges at the valuation date.Securities not traded on that date are generally valued at thelatest available sale price or at a price within the latest availablebid and ask prices. Valuations of securities for which no recentmarket quotations are readily available are determined by the fundmanager in such a manner as it deems appropriate to reflect fairvalue.

Short-term investments are carried at amortized cost, whichapproximates market value.

Investment transactions are accounted for on the trade date.Interest income is accrued as it is earned. Realized gains (losses)on the sale of investments are calculated on an average cost basis.

Dividend income is recorded on the ex-dividend date net of foreignwithholding taxes. Amounts that may be reclaimed are recorded astax reclaim receivable.

Cash and cash equivalents

Cash and cash equivalents comprise cash on hand and overnightdeposits that are readily convertible to known amounts of cashwhich are subject to an insignificant risk of changes in value.

Foreign currency translation

Assets and liabilities of the Funds are translated into Canadiandollars at the exchange rates in effect at the valuation date.Purchases and sales of investments and revenue and expenses aretranslated at the rates of exchange prevailing on the respectivedates of such transactions.

Reported net realized gains (losses) from foreign currencytransactions arise from sales of foreign currencies, currency gains(losses) realized between the trade and settlement dates onsecurities transactions, and the difference between the amountsof dividends, interest and foreign withholding taxes initiallyrecorded and the Canadian dollar equivalent of the amountsactually received or paid. Net unrealized foreign exchange gains(losses) arise from changes in the value of assets and liabilitiesexcluding investments in securities at the fiscal year-end,resulting from changes in the exchange rates.

Forward foreign currency exchange contracts

The Funds may enter into forward foreign currency exchangecontracts to hedge foreign currency exposure on investments.

A forward foreign currency exchange contract is a commitment topurchase or sell a foreign currency at a future date at a negotiatedexchange rate. The gain (loss) arising from the differencebetween the original contract and the closing of such contract isincluded in realized gain (loss) on foreign currency transactions. The difference between the value of the contract on the valuationdate and the date the contract originated is recorded asunrealized appreciation (depreciation) of investments.

The maximum credit risk is the aggregate value of contracts withpositive value as shown on the Schedule of Spot/ ForwardContracts.

Net asset value per unit by class

The unit price of each class of units of a fund is calculated bydividing the market value of net assets of a fund allocated to thatclass (the value of the proportionate share of the assets of the

fund allocated to that class less the liabilities of that class and theproportionate share of the common liabilities of the fundallocated to that class) by the total number of outstanding unitsof that class.
