Discharge of flood water/excess rainwater from the agricultural (paddy) fields during extreme weather events and protects the paddy crops/ fields from inundation.
Why this Pilot choose : The proposed measure will reduce the risk of inundation of crops due to high precipitation and extreme weather events.
Renovation/ desiltation of existing drainage channel
SRAVANTI, GUIDE
Impacts addressed During the last 10 years period, incidences of heavy rainfall in a very short span of time was being witnessed by the farmers in the region resulting in inundation of crops ultimately leading to either crop loss or affecting the quality grain. Once the proposed measure is implemented, the farmers can address the risk of Climate changes / Extreme Weather Events impacts successfully.

Construction of rain water harvesting ponds GUIDE
Impacts addressed The measure will address the scarcity of water for Irrigation especially during the high
Temperatures and during the Low Rainfall.
[What are the problems in the comunities where this pilot should be constructed? Which climate impacts are addressed?]
Short description : GUIDE, Krishna Dist, AP
Communities : Gollamanda
Pilot: Construction of Rain /Flood Water Harvesting Farm Ponds
Target Group : Farmers
How does it Work : The Measure helps in tapping the rain/flood and canal water and use it for irrigation during the times of emergency. The measure will help the farmers to protect their crops from water scarcity and also to have better yields. The measure includes digging of pits/tanks in the fields and forming bunds around them to increase water storage capacity. The activity also includes, formation of intake channels, drainage channels, inlet, outlet arrangement etc.
Why this Pilot choose : The proposed measure will help the farmers to reduce risks arising out of scarce rain fall or drought conditions. The continuous availability of water in the water harvesting ponds will address the risk of losing crop due to less rainfall or reduced no of rainy days during the season.
