• A data collection & analyticssystem developed by MIROS tosupport for road safety researchand evidence-based road safetyprograms and intervention.

• Currently implemented by:• MIROS – PDRM crash data analysis,

crash investigation and road safetyaudit

• DBKL – Black-spot identification andmonitoring

• LLM – Mandatory for all highwayconcessionaires to use the system fordata collection, analysis and reporting

• PLUS – A customized advancedversion developed to support theiradvanced operational needs

REVIEW AND REDEVELOPMENT OF ROAD SAFETY EDUCATION (RSE) MODULE

RSE has been implemented in schoolssince 2007 as part of the interventionprogramme by the Road SafetyDepartment of Malaysia (JKJR).

The effort was supported by Ministry ofEducation as part of long termproactive action plan to increaseawareness on road safety amongprimary and secondary students.

MIROS’ role has been the review andmonitoring of the programme’sevaluation.

PILLAR 4: SAFER ROAD USER AUTOMATED AWARENESS SAFETY SYSTEM (AwAS)

MIROS is actively involved in AwAS by assisting theministry with the following:

• Site verification for AwAS which emphasize onparameter setting

• Crash data analysis – Identification of locationsbased on criteria’s set.

• MIROS as the lead agency for the JawatankuasaPenilaian Teknikal UAT• Technical and UAT inspection• Finalise the procedure UAT procedure for the AwAS

nationwide roll out• MIROS on the committee for proof of concept of

• Objectives:• Improvise existing OSH policy by incorporating Commuting

Safety Management• Improve riding behaviour – defensive riding, safety talk, family

safety reminder• Riding preparedness – route hazard mapping, motor inspection,

fitness to ride assessment

• Module is based on SIRIM 4 : 2014 Good Practices in Implementing Commuting Safety Management

• About 85% of respondent had improved their riding behaviour specifically on compliance of personal protective while riding.

OPS SELAMAT/BERSEPADU DURING FESTIVE SEASON

18

• Traffic volume during the festive season showed an increase of 12% at major expressways in Malaysia (Jamilah et al. 2012)

• With the abundant flow of traffic using major Malaysian roads and highways, the risk of road crash and casualty become more prevalent

• In the effort to curb road crashes during festive seasons, the goverment has conducted enforcement strategies through OPS Selamat/Bersepadu targeting on reducing road violations as stipulated by road transport laws.

EVALUATION OF NATIONAL SPEED REDUCTION STRATEGY

AIM: to evaluate the road user compliance towards National Speed Reduction (90km/h to 80km/h) Strategy during the program

The speed limit reduction was able to reduce speed violation rate during Ops
