We have widespread experience in the design and development of water and wastewater treatment facilities in both industrial and municipal sectors. Tony Lynch - Managing Director Tony has more than 30 years’ experience in project management, design management and design for electrical and control systems in mining and minerals processing, heavy industrial, water and wastewater, power generation, transmission and distribution.
Dennis Beck - Principal Electrical Engineer Dennis has more than 30 years’ experience in design, construction and commissioning of gas fired power stations, large scale electrical distribution and control systems, materials handling systems, mining machinery, coal and metalliferous processing plants.
Juan de Beer – Power Systems Manager Juan has 15 years’ experience in project management, design management, studies and design for electrical and instrumentation systems in mining and minerals processing, heavy industrial, oil, gas and water. He has hazardous area design and investigation accreditation and has been involved in reviews, audits and assessments.
Peter Clissold – Control Systems and Software Manager Peter’s has 20 years of experience in designing and supporting automation & SCADA systems. He has applied solutions across multiple control disciplines and applications. He hold his CCNA/CCDA and has significant experience in Management Execution Systems (MES) design, implementation and deployment utilising ISA standards and integrating multi-vendor systems.
Eric Kriis – Electrical Design / Project Engineer Eric is an Electrical Design and Project Manager with more than 35 years’ experience in the electrical industries including design, manufacture, and construction and commissioning. Recently he has led the electrical design for a number of projects at Melbourne Water.
Greg Clayson - Senior Electrical Engineer Greg is an electrical engineer based in the Latrobe Valley (Traralgon). His experience extends from 15 years of experience in the thermal power industry specialising in boiler and turbine control systems through to dragline control systems, materials handling and water treatment. John Gould - Principal Consultant Electrical & Controls John has significant experience to the operation and incident investigation of power plants. He has detailed knowledge of power station operation and asset management. He has implemented many systems and original procedures for the investigation of compliance with the NER and other aspects of Power Generation Operation and Maintenance. He has undertaken numerous projects for thermal and Hydro power stations.
David Lynch – Brisbane Office Manager / Project Controls
David is based in Elical’s Brisbane office and has over 30 years’ experience in project management, controls and finance. He has significant experience in the fields of systems integration, operational reporting and cost analysis.

Alf Hertaeg – Principal Consultant Alf has forty years’ experience covering a broad area of both design and operation of large thermal power station plants. Specialising in turbine and related plant and also instrumentation and controls, his experience includes, power plant upgrades, remaining plant life and engineering studies, due diligence, power plant design, repowering, failure analysis, power plant performance including environmental studies, geothermal and co-generation plants.
Lachlan Douglas – Senior Mechanical Engineer Lachlan has over 25 years of experience specialising in water and wastewater treatment or transfer pump station projects for the industrial, mining and infrastructure sectors. He has extensive experience in project management and design management of multidisciplinary projects including greenfield and brownfield/upgrade projects across the Asia Pacific region.
Patrick Mckenna – Principal Electrical & Controls Engineer (Newcastle)
Patrick has extensive experience delivering electrical and control system projects to large multi-national companies. Management of both small and large electrical design and commissioning teams, development and establishment of project plans, progress monitoring and reporting systems.
William Spratt – Senior Electrical and Controls Engineer Will has nearly 30 years’ experience in electrical and control systems design, configuration and commissioning. His experience covers most heavy industrial industries including mining, Oil & Gas, food, water/wastewater, pharmaceuticals and industrial.
Matthew Vanderburg – Energy and Infrastructure Manager Matthew is a highly experienced Industrial Control Systems specialist with extensive technical capability as well as proven capability in Project Delivery. His technical expertise includes SCADA, control systems and communications systems across many industries including mining, water, power generation and industrial. He has considerable experience in electrical systems including energy management systems and power generators, much of this gained internationally. He can also operating effectively across a number of multi-disciplined technical areas.
Bill Schmidt – Senior Electrical Engineer Bill has more than 30 years’ experience with power stations, control & protection systems, water and waste water, mining and manufacturing. Bill has strong power system skills and has specialist experience in power system protection as well as systems studies including load flows, fault studies and protection coordination.
Ben Horman – Senior Systems Engineer
Ben has over 15 years’ experience across various industries in the design and commissioning of control, instrumentation and SCADA systems as well as an experienced LV Electrical Designer. This experience includes 10 years in the water and waste water industry. He has also been involved in several large Intelligent Transportation Systems projects

Joshua Kon – Electrical Engineer Trainee Joshua is in his final year of studies at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He has worked on a range of projects in the mining and heavy industrial sectors. This includes power systems analysis, design of low voltage and control systems. He has assisted with condition assessments & audits related to Bulk materials handling. He has undertaken several training courses in Power Distribution and Fault Protection, Intelligent Motor Management, Surge Protection, and Machine and Plant Safety.
Ken Sands – Electrical Engineer Trainee Ken is a mature age Electrical Engineering Trainee at Elical and is currently undertaking his final year of studies at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). His experience includes power and control systems design and he has contributed to a number of condition assessment & audits. His previous experience was in Aquatic system design, construction and commissioning pertaining to controlled water quality management systems for the containment of aquatic livestock.
Craig Hunter – Electrical Design Draftsman Craig has 35+ years experience in project engineering in Australia and overseas. His design experience has been obtained from working in mining and metals, power distribution as well as oil and gas. He can cover many areas such as power generation & distribution, heavy industrial through to control. He has extensive experience with Autocad and Microstation in both 2D and 3D, and proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite with Visual Basic programming.
