Scholarship Reception

Meet the Scholarship

Winners and Meet Your

Future! Have you met Rosemary, Ashley, Alexis, Emily, Lindsey, Emily, Chelsea, or Dianna? No? Then please accept this invitation to attend the reception on Friday, May 17th from 6-7pm at Burke Lakefront Airport.

We all know that the luncheon goes by very quickly. So quickly, in fact, that there’s barely enough time to figure out where you’re sitting, chat with your alumnae sisters, buy raffle tickets, bid on the silent auction, and locate the ladies room. There’s a lot going on! Finding a free moment to break the ice and meet even just one of the scholarship recipients can be a real challenge. Plus, there are only a few winners, and if they’re not from your sorority, well, it’s pretty easy to just not bother meeting them at all. However, the CAPA scholarship committee spent hours and hours reading applications to find the most deserving recipients for our scholarship dollars. These young ladies are worth meeting. They represent some of our best and brightest collegians, and in a few years, they will be our newest alumnae members. If you think about it, the reception is really the best opportunity we will have to personally lay the first brick in the foundation of alumnae sisterhood and Panhellenic friendship with these extraordinary women. Come to the reception on Friday, May 17th. Then, at the luncheon the

next day, you won’t be ignoring some strangers who just happened to win scholarships – you’ll be greeting new sisters!

Please RSVP to Jennifer Bufe

([email protected] or (440) 759-6913) if you are attending the reception. I hope to see many of you there!

NPC Survey Here are some interesting statistics from the NPC annual survey report: Women remain engaged with sorority after graduation. Twenty-six member groups report there are 3,932 active alumnae chapters around the world (a number larger than the number of established collegiate chapters on college campuses). Once initiated, GPAs of sorority women tend to skew higher. The majority of NPC member groups require a study skills component as part of sorority life. Most member groups require an average 2.5 GPA to join, but the median GPA of initiated members was higher in 2011-2012 – 3.2 (spring) and 3.19 (fall). The success and continuation of sorority remains dependent on dedicated volunteers. Twenty-two of 26 groups reporting listed a total of 23,959 volunteers providing services on a local level to collegiate and alumnae chapters – about the population of a small-sized city or town. All NPC member groups remain committed to community service. Twenty-five NPC member groups reported having a relationship with an established “national philanthropy.” Relationships with organizations developed as early as 1911 and remain viable today.

News and Notes May is Alpha Gamma Delta’s

anniversary month. They will be celebrating the 3

rd week in April with

IRD-International Reunion Day-at the 100

th Bomb Group!

Congratulations to Gamma Phi Beta

on adding a new philanthropic focus: Building Strong Girls. This focus comes directly from the sorority’s mission of “providing experiences and resources that build spiritual, mental and social resiliency in girls”. To fulfill this mission they have added Girls on the Run as philanthropic partner and are sponsoring a new Camp Fire girls educational program, “I’m Peer Proof”. Thank you to everyone who attended the April 15 Dine Out fundraiser at Johnny Mangos.
