Canyon Court - Project Summary 1 BACKGROUND: Ecolighten became involved in this project afer constructon began but before the framing was complete. The Builder’s Project Manager wanted to detail duct routng before major beam and joistng was complete in order to acommodate any adjustments where possible. Outdoor pool mechanical had not been determined due to too many conflictng recommendatons from multple sources. SOLUTIONS & OUTCOMES: DISCOVERY Ecolighten engaged with Builder, Project Manager, and HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical Contractors over several boardroom meetngs. Despite numerous conflictng recommendatons, no load calculaton or comparatve cost analysis had been prepared. CALCULATIONS A detailed room-by-room load calculaton was performed for the house and pool. Ecolighten calculated comparatve costs and payback for geothermal, solar (pool mats, flat plate, evacuated tube, etc.), air-source heat pump, integrated and independent conventonal pool heatng systems. RECOMMENDATIONS Ecolighten presented our summary of the load calculatons with comment. We discovered the originally quoted system did not have the capacity for the cooling load. Ecolighten demonstrated the optmum system combinaton for the pool. Optons for duct routng and sizing, based on our load calculatons were negotated. Equipment selecton was now precise and not undersized as originally quoted. DESIGN Ecolighten in consultaton with plumbing, HVAC, electrical contractors, and Project Manager drafed a 2-Line autoCAD design that coordinated structural beams and joists with all duct routng, piping and terminatons. (see illustraton table below). SOLUTIONS Primary energy source for heatng and cooling is a Bryant 5 ton heat pump. Distributon through three (3) independent zones using matching Evoluton Control. Merv 11 pleated filter. Veissmann Vitodens 100 with Indirect Tank for DHW. Solar Pool panels with house boiler (Vitodens) as 2nd stage.
