Trump Must Go By Any Means Necessary; No Business as Usual Until Trump is Defeated! Defend Public Education! Defend Immigrant Rights! No Cooperation with ICE in Our School

Now is the time to vote EON/BAMN to lead the NEA. Now is the time to defeat Donald Trump. There is a growing polarization in this nation and EON/BAMN is leading the “Trump Must Go” movement, taking direct action to resist and defeat his racist and xenophobic policies. Trump’s policies and movement are an attack on everything that public education stands for: Free speech, intellectual freedom, the development of independent and critical thinking, honest science, openness and equality. The NEA”s prominence as the largest union in the country means we can play a critical role in the movement to defeat Trump.

Millions of people have joined the movement across the world, opposing and defeating some of the worst attacks from Donald Trump and his racist supporters. On January 21, 2017, the day after Trump’s inauguration, millions of people marched and demonstrated across the nation and around the world. Student and youth-led actions, high school walkouts, and mass actions at college and university campuses - for immigrant rights, public education and against racism - have already provided decisive leadership to the national movement. At UC Berkeley, BAMN’s bold leadership mobilized and led the student movement to shut down fascist recruiter Milo Yiannopoulus, leading to the end of his career at Breitbart and of his book deal.

The mass actions at airports across the country, especially in Los Angeles, where protestors shut down LAX until everyone who was detained was released, defeated Trump’s first Muslim travel ban. These have been a shining example for the nation of how to stop Trump and the rise of a racist movement, and will be key to getting Trump out of office. These victories were not the result simply of spontaneous action, but required leadership, organization and a set of clear demands.

One of our most urgent tasks now is to organize our schools to stop ICE raids and prevent capture and deportations in our schools and communities. We must have leaders who are unapologetic and unwavering in defending the safety and wellbeing of our diverse, communities and defend public education. We can show millions of students and young people across the country who are looking for a way forward that the NEA is a force is a leader in the new mass, militant, integrated, civil rights movement – and that we have the power to confront and defeat Trump. We must embrace the fact that our movement is on the offensive like this country has never seen before. Now is the time to be our own heroes and defeat Donald Trump. Vote for Mark Airgood. Vote for EON/BAMN and join the new movement.

Trump Must Go By Any Means Necessary! No Business as Usual Until Trump is Defeated!Defend Public Education! Defend Immigrant Rights! No Cooperation with ICE in Our Schools!

I’m fighter for public education, civil rights, and immigrant rights. I understand that we are in a strong position to defeat the attacks of the Trump administration and get him out of power if we take action. NEA needs to stand up now! Donald Trump must go! We must build the fight By Any Means Necessary!

Trump’s immigrant bashing, xenophobic movement of hatred threatens humanity’s whole future. His movement is a model for the neo-fascist movements and leaders across Europe, including the anti-immigrant scapegoating behind the Brexit referendum, which has emboldened racist, anti-immigrant and anti-LGBT attacks. While reactionary governments are building walls and passing racist laws to keep out immigrants and refugees, there is an international movement fighting for our definition of citizenship: If you live here, work here, go to school here, contribute to this society, you are a citizen and should have full citizenship rights.

Millions of people nationwide who support equality and the right to public education look to us to build this new movement. The massive women’s marches of January 21st 2017 and the tremendously successful airport demonstrations for freedom for refugees- for immigrant rights-against the Muslim ban show the strength of this movement and our ability to defeat Donald Trump’s attacks. Organized with students, parents, and the community we can stop deportations and defend Sanctuary Cities.

If we elect a fighting leadership to mobilize NEA, we can succeed. My experience as a leader has shown me that when we fight we win. I am committed to no business as usual until Trump is defeated! I am a founding member of the Equal Opportunity Now By Any Means Necessary (EON/BAMN) teachers’ caucus. I am committed to speaking the truth and acting boldly on it. Vote Tania Kappner for NEA Vice-President!

Vote Ric Abreu forNEA Secretary Treasurer Trump Must Go By Any Means Necessary! No Business as Usual Until Trump is Defeated! Defend Public Education! Defend Immigrant Rights! No Cooperation with ICE in Our Schools!

My name is Ric Abreu and I am running for NEA Secretary Treasurer because we need an NEA leadership that is going to take the offensive against the racist, anti-immigrant, anti-public education policies of the Trump administration. EON/BAMN candidates pledge to make the NEA a leader in this new movement. Trump’s attacks on immigrant rights, public education and our union can be defeated. The anti-Trump movement is already winning important victories.

The NEA needs a leadership in step with the times, not one that has its head in the sand. We need walk-outs, demonstrations, marches and strikes not walk-ins and lobbying days. I raised the Resolution that passed in CTA State Council for a Statewide Day of Action to Defeat Donald Trump’s Attacks on Immigrants and Public Education. This is the kind of action we need. We can’t rely on the Democrats to defeat Trump. They demonstrated their capacity to lose in 2016 and are capable of doing it again.

We need aggressive action against the Trump Administration and Trump’s movement. We need to fight Betsy DeVos who is a champion of privatization and vouchers. Public education itself is at peril. There’s no good reason to stand by and wring our hands as the current leadership is doing, while fundamental union rights that took generations of struggle to secure - like agency fee and dues check-off - are attacked. The NEAhas the support of millions. We are the recognized authority on public education. We must use our power and not be afraid to stand proudly with the anti-Trump movement and take action in the streets. That’s how the labor movement was built and how it can be protected.

EON/BAMN candidates are committed to this challenge. We need new leadership. We need Mark Airgood for NEA president, Tania Kappner for NEA Vice President and Ric Abreu for Secretary Treasurer! Let's do this!

I am first a wife of 31 years and mother of two amazing children. I have 3 God-Daughters and am God-Grandmother to 4 beautiful grandchildren. I currently work in my local School district in Austin, Texas and have for 15 years. My mother, siblings, my children and I all attended this district in which I work. I am an Attendance Specialist at a Magnet Middle School. I have served on many district committees.

I have served my Association for the past 13 years in many capacities including, local Co-President of Education Austin, Classified Vice President, Treasurer and Campus Representative. Currently, at the state level I serve on my state Board of Directors, for Texas State Teachers Association. I have been on the state Board of Directors as Region President, a State Director and a NEA ESP -At Large Director. I was the first ESP to be elected as a State Director (” I guess you could say I broke the glass ceiling on that”). At the NEA level I have served as a State Director from Texas and currently an ESP At-Large Director. I am in my 3rd year on the NEA Program and Budget Committee and the ESP Careers Committee.

Throughout my Education career my goals and passion have always been to be a voice for children and members… especially those that feel they have no voice. We must stay true to our Mission and Vision of NEA. As we do this we will continue to move NEA in the right direction for success. With our current climate, we need those strong voices that will speak up no matter what may arise, to ensure all children no matter their zip code have a quality education. We can no longer sit on the sidelines and wait for our government to do right by students and staff. No, we must DEMAND it! “ Like a tree planted by the waters we shall not be moved”…I shall not be moved! I am asking for your support and vote for NEA Executive Committee.

Vote Adi Hoag forNEA Executive Committee

Trump Must Go By Any Means Necessary

No Business as Usual Until Trump is Defeated! Defend Public Education and Immigrant Rights!

No Cooperation with ICE in Our Schools! If You See ICE – Don’t Walk on By!

I am a fourth year special education teacher in Oakland and a civil rights organizer with the EON/BAMN Caucus. I am running for the NEA Executive Committee so that I can build a national movement of teachers, students, and communities to force Donald Trump out By Any Means Necessary.

EON BAMN is organizing to defend public education, fight racism in our schools, and protect the rights immigrant students, students with disabilities, and all those most affected by the attacks on public education. We are organizing to defend our diverse international schools and community against racist, bigoted attacks. We are organizing to defend union rights and gains. Our fight will be more critical this year than ever before.

The marches, walkouts, and strike action in Oakland and across the California are providing a model of action for how to confront and defeat Trump. We cannot rely on electing Democratic Party politicians in two or four years. The Democrats are capable of losing to Trump and the alt-right and neo-fascists again. The NEA needs a leadership that is prepared to organize mass, militant, direct action to fight – to shut-down entire cities in solidarity against Trump’s attacks. I am a teacher who is not afraid to lead this fight.

Vote Ceresta Smith for NEA Executive Committee

Elect a Bold New Leadership for NEA! No Business as Usual Until Trump is Defeated!

Defend Public Education! Defend Immigrant Rights!

Build the Mass, Militant Civil Rights Movement!

We now face a crisis in democracy that impacts all areas of life in America. With a Trump Presidency that is hostile and distrustful of the public good, we, as educators and labor unionists, must organize resistance to attacks that threaten equity and justice in public education.

As we organize resistance, those that have demonstrated the wherewithal to take militant stances against these threats must become the new leadership that ensures just treatment regardless of special needs, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, immigrant status, primary language, and religious practice. That leadership is EON/BAMN.
