Candidate Statement for Fiona Anderson – Council Elections 2016

My reason for nominating to run in the next Council Elections, is that I feel having a Green representative on the Sunshine Coast Council will ensure that the current goals to be environmentally and socially considerate will remain as we continue to improve our infrastructure.

Our locale contains beautiful ecosystems from the best of all worlds – including hinterland and coastal environments and its important to ensure we do not risk these for the sake of development.

I have been a Greens member for a number of years and recently ran as the Greens Candidate for Caloundra in the last State Election. This was my first venture into the world of politics and I have learnt quite a lot from it. I think it is very important that we stay involved within our communities and ensure that the public know they have alternatives when it comes time to vote.

I am a passionate Green and have been active in my local community both as a Green: rallying for the environment, refugees and climate change, as well as the Sunshine Coast spokesperson for our LGBT families, discussing and publicly rallying for Marriage Equality and youth mental health to name a few.
