u EC.03.01.01 – Personnel responsible for the maintenance and testing and use of medical equipment, utility systems, and equipment, fire safety systems, and equipment and the safe handling of hazardous materials and waste are competent and receive continuing education and training.

NFPA 80 2016 – Qualified Inspector

u 5.2.3.1 – Acceptance testing of fire door and window assemblies shall be performed by a qualified person with knowledge and understanding of the operating components of the type of assembly being subject to testing. Appendix expands requirement for inspection and testing after installation.

Safe Day One-Healthcare Orientation & Safety

u Safe Day One(SD1)- This online training program in Spanish & English is targeted for contractors and employees providing construction, equipment, and/or maintenance and operations. SD1 is an in depth orientation to the healthcare facilities environment that includes:

u Infection Prevention

u Interim Life Safety

u Blood Borne Pathogens

u Healthcare specific OSHA awareness

u Patient Awareness

u And other healthcare specific training.

u While SD1 is not an accredited course, it does provide critical information and is validated through testing. A three(3) year certificate is issued after successfully completing. Most if not all healthcare facilities require some type of healthcare orientation prior to allowing individuals to work at the facility. This is a fee based program.

Healthcare Facilities Foundation

u Healthcare Facilities Foundation(HFF)- Online

u The primary benefit of the HFL Certificate would be for those with some trade or general maintenance background who desire to enter or advance positions in the healthcare facilities services profession. These positions would include healthcare technicians & supervisors. The Certificate program would require students take all 100 level series HFL courses (16 credit hours). All classes are stackable/transferrable to the HFL Degree or Diploma credentials. Enrollment in the HFF certificate DOES NOT require college entrance assessment for English, Reading, or Math.

Healthcare Facilities Leadership Diploma-Online

u The primary benefit of the HFL Diploma would be advanced core knowledge of healthcare facilities leadership along with required general education courses(Approximately 45 credit hours total). The Diploma would benefit those with advance degrees(Bachelors/Masters) who are seeking to add the HFL core competency to their management skillset. The Diploma would also benefit those seeking to take the nationally recognized gold standard CHFM exam. Those enrolling in the HFL Diploma program would be required to meet college entrance requirements.

Healthcare Facilities Leadership Associates Degreeu Healthcare Facilities Leadership AAS Degree - Online

u Currently the most advance academic credential offered specifically tailored to the Healthcare Facilities Management profession. Comprises of 11 Core Courses and other related professional development courses.

Healthcare Facilities Leadership Bachelorsu Healthcare Facilities Leadership BAS Degree – (Plan to be Online)

u The HFL Bachelors is currently not offered, however with a growing enrollment and graduation of the HFL AAS program, it is only a matter of time before an HFL Bachelors will be offered.

u Proposed Courses – Energy Management(2), Commissioning New, Commissioning Existing, CMMS & BIM, Reliability Management, & Healthcare Property Management.

Healthcare Facilities Technician Certificate

u The primary benefit of the HFT Certificate would be for those working as a healthcare facilities technician or desire to enter or advance positions in the healthcare facilities services profession. The HFT Certificate program would require students take the first three HFL 100 level series courses. Intro to Healthcare Facilities Management, Introduction to Healthcare Industry, & Infection Prevention & Control(7 credit hours). The student would then submit the provided signed off competencies for Life Safety, Medical Gas, Generator & Basic Electrical, and Healthcare Ventilation & Basic BAS for college lab credit(8 credit hours). The lab credits would be validated through two(2) Capstone courses(4 credit hours). The HFT Certificate would be a total of 19 Credit hours(11 paid & 8 through competency checklist).

Proposed Certified Healthcare Facilities Technician(CHFT)u The primary benefit of the CHFT would be to provide a national certification

to demonstrate commitment and professional growth. Those obtaining the CHFT would need be expected to maintain the certification through approved technical and professional courses and material.

Future Healthcare Facilities Technician AAS

u The primary benefit of the HFT AAS would be to broaden the student’s analytical, English, reading, math, communication, and industry specific skills. These additional skills would enhance employability and industry professionalism.

u Those completing this program would also make for very good candidates to enter the HFL program(Leadership).
