Grace and peace unto you!Within your life's routine, have you ever missed a meal? Remember how you feltas the day went on? Did you feel irritable, stomach ached and lacked energy?

As Christians when we miss a day in God's Word, we tend to feel the same wayspiritually. The feelings of being irritable, depressed and/or low on joy reflects inour interactions with others.

Being fed with God's Word, we are able to nourish our minds and spirit. Ourthought patterns are clear and the journey is focused. The more we focus onGod's Word, the more we will desire it and experience a spiritual growth within ourlives. Without His Words, we feel empty and spiritually drained. Hebrews 5:14says "But solid food belongs to those who areof full age, that is, those who by reason of usehave their senses exercised to discern bothgood and evil".

When we attend weekly worship, we believe

that's enough time in the Word. But our bodiescan't live on one meal a week and likewise, our spirit will never flourish on one day a weekin His Word. A steady meal of the Wordprovides the strength needed in our spirit toovercome worldly situations.

Moreover, just as a healthy person feeds himself, a Christian should take in theWord as a centerpiece of the day to be spiritually empowered at all times. Takethe time to read God's Word daily, meditate, and allow God to speak directly toyou. The more we read and understand His Word, the more we are able to handlethe challenges of life.

Are you hungry? Feed on the Word of God by making a commitment to read HisWord daily. Your life will forever be changed and your spirit will thank you for it.True soul food is the Word of God.

Luke 6:21 - "Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled"

Stay strong!Dr. Christopher Alan Bullock, Senior Pastor

MinistrySpotlightIn today's Christian culture, many churches have adopted the practice of havingchildren's Sunday school while adults partake inSunday service. However, Canaan has chosen to

take a different path; as a church it believes infully integrating its youth and young adultmembers into its Sunday worship services. The

Youth and Young Adult Ministry is one ofCanaan's most important ministries because it has

the task of molding tomorrow's Christians. Thisministry is very active in the lives of Canaan's youth. At its head, Dr. Debbie

Bullock ensures that Canaan's youth are involved in a diverse array of activities. For

example, taking trips to the Univer-soulCircus when it was in it town or taking theyouth on a trip to Georgia to visit colleges. It involves them in not only religiousactivities, but also those that may seem a bit secular;in other words, it keeps the youths and young adults

rooted in the church while still giving them the abilityto experience worldly events and activities. The Wordsays that you ought to "train up a child in the way he

should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). In this way,Canaan's Youth and Young Adult Ministry has performed the task that all Christians are

obliged; which is following the word of God. So if you take a moment to look atCanaan's Youth and Young Adult Ministry, you will see youth ages 2-19 singing in the choir, serving as ushers, juniortrustees, or seeing them leave on one of the ministry's many field trips. Even at a glance, it is easy to see that this

ministry is at work and that it is doing the work of God. As a congregation, it is essential that we continue to be an

example for our youth members, because one day the youths and young adults among us will become the new Canaan.
