The Key. Canoo Alf*honse A. Notebaert, rector of t lae ChurcJa of Our Lady o * Victory celebrated his eightieth birthday on Tuesday. Born in B e l g i u m , b e ujee-ivedl his classical t ra in ing at Ypr«a, ' attended the s e m i n a r y at Bruges a n d then taught for s ix years before l i e took charge of a parish. He w a s ealted to Roch ester b y the late Sit . Btev. Bernard J McQuaid in July, 3 8 7 9 , and. has been priest o f one parish e-ver since.
For s ignal and distinguished serv ices, Father Notebaert h a s been a w a r d e d five meolale o n different occas ions . In 1896 b e reeelvfed the Or der of Leopold. I n 1905, King Leopold, then riLler of Belgium, made him a Knight of Order of the Crown. The gian government conferred upon him the medal of King- Alr>ertia 1919 for d e v o t e d services during ttite World War, a n d h e has been honored also by the Advocates o f S t . Peter of Italy and at another t ime t>y King Albert.
