Started at The University of Texas at Arlington in 1995 Located in the Mathematics Department in the College of Science

TexPREP MissionThe Prefreshman Engineering Program (PREP) provides a challenging

academic program designed to motivate and prepare middle and high school students for success in advanced studies leading to

careers in science, technology, engineering or mathematics fields.

PREP-USA is a national program with an emphasis on increasing the number of women and underrepresented minorities in these fields.

TexPrep UTA 2015 schedule will be five days a week, Monday through Friday, starting Wed., June 10 and ending Wed., July 22 with a two day break on Thursday and Friday, July 2 - 3.

Grading and CreditStudents must maintain a

75 average or better during the program.

Final grade reported to student’s school upon permission from the student and parent to release.

Attendance is mandatory and poor attendance can cause dismissal from the program.

Students will have homework.

Participating school districts award up to one elective credit per TexPREP year towards high school graduation

TexPREP is approved as Career and Technology Education (CTE) credit

Unsafe or inappropriate behavior is immediate grounds for dismissal from PREP. We have zero tolerance for it.

TexPREP Camp RulesPromptly follow all instructions given by any Instructor, any camp

staff member, or the Program Director Dr. Tiernan

Do not leave any place without your assigned group.

Always get permission from your Instructor or group leader to go anywhere (including the bathroom) and inform the group leader of your return.

Always consult your Instructor or group leader immediately if you have any problem.

Always follow the classroom rules for your instructors.

Camp Health RulesCover your mouth and nose if you cough or sneeze.

Wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer after eating, coughing, sneezing, or visiting the restroom.

Inform your group leader immediately if you do not feel well.

Before the start of camp, please inform the Camp Coordinator if you take any regularly scheduled medication. Camp staff members cannot give medication but they can assist in reminding students if scheduled medications are needed.

Camp LunchAll students will receive lunch and a snack daily.

Students are free to bring their own lunches.

A menu for the summer will be provided to students on the first day of camp.

On designated days, students may purchase lunch from the University Center. Families will be notified of these days.

Field TripsPermission slips must be returned for students to participate in

field trips. Permission slips will be provided.

Transportation will be provided by AISD for all field trips.

Next summer TexPREP 2016 at UTAInvitations to participate in the following year of TexPREP will

automatically be mailed out to those qualifying Year I and Year II TexPREP students.

UTA Engineering will host Years I, II, and III of TexPREP in 2016.

Notify the UTA Engineering TexPREP Camp Coordinator if you have a change in address or telephone number or if you do not receive a following year application by March

RemindersIf you have any uncompleted paperwork, please turn it in

immediately to the TexPREP Camp Coordinator.

If your student is not riding the bus to camp, please be sure to drop them off and pick them up in accordance with TexPREP hours. Students who do not arrive on the buses will need to be checked in and out of camp each day. Talk to the Camp Coordinator about where to park for drop off and pick up.

Every day, encourage your child to complete their homework during research and study time to avoid excessive homework at night.
