With gratitude to the musicians, staff, board and audience members for two and a half decades of music, I am delighted to present to you details of Camerata Pacifica’s 25TH Season of Concerts.

This season is dedicated to the memory of our dear friend and founding Board member, the indefatigable Bill Stewart whose incorrigible presence and irreverent wit will be sorely missed.

Our season offers the Camerata’s signature blend of old and new: reprise performances of favorite works by musicians who have become your friends, alongside world-premieres of compositions commissioned by you, and music you have yet to discover. We have new artists for you to meet too.

It’s what Camerata Pacifica has been doing for 25 years.

As always my advice is, to best appreciate our season and its breadth of programming and expression, enjoy a full subscription. However, whether we see you at every program or you drop in and out, you’ll receive the same warm Camerata welcome.

I look forward to seeing you in our Silver Anniversary Season.

Adrian SpenceArtistic Director

March 2015 In March we introduce violinist Kristin Lee and pianist Gloria Chien with a program traversingthe boundaries of romanticism; from Beethoven’s proto-romantic “Moonlight” sonata, throughthe gentle tones of Foote & Field, the unique Debussy, to the dramatic, opulently chromaticintensity of Schoenberg’s “Transfigured Night”.

April 2015 Intensity opens April’s concert, with James MacMillan’s Kiss on Wood which his publisher describesas “a short, static and serene meditation for violin and piano”. Performing here with Warren Jones, violinist Priya Mitchell is featured in this program, following her last-moment-replacement debutwith the group last March. Warren’s performance of the Lizst/Wagner Liebestod was one of his most celebrated performances with us. With Warren & Priya, Martin Jones’ amazing french horn playingwill conclude our program with Brahms’ Horn Trio.

May 2015 At 7.30 p.m. on December 3rd, 1990, Santa Barbara’s Lobero Theatre filled with the exuberanttones of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerti as The Bach Camerata launched its inaugural season. Bachused the “widest spectrum of orchestral instruments ... in daring combinations. Every one of the six concertos set a precedent in scoring, and every one was to remain without parallel,” –Christoff Wolf. And so we conclude our 25th season as we began our 1st — in celebration, this time of 25 years ofperformances of music without parallel.
