Hello, All – June is already upon us. Or is it here at last? Time seems to pass strangely these
days. We hope you are doing well and staying healthy. Aswewritethis,wedon’thaveanydefinitewordaboutwhenwewill be able tomeet in person again,which in-cludeswhetherwewillhaveourWGM’sOfficialVisitinjustweeks.Muchdependsonhowwelltheslowopeningofthestateisgoing,ofcourse.Hopefully,wewillhavebeenabletogiveyoumore informationprior to this issue reachingyour door. Lastmonthwereportedontheformingofacommit-teetoexplorewhataconsolidationwithTrinityStarChap-ter might look like. The committee met via Zoom andhammeredoutthedetails,suchasournewChapterwouldbecalled“CamelliaStar”andkeeptheoldernumber,No.63,etc. Aswewrite this, thenext step is to reportbacktoeachoftheChaptersandholdavoteonwhethereachChapterapprovesoftheplanthecommitteeputtogether.ThisStay-in-Placeorderisinterferingwiththat,butwearetryingtofindawaytomovethatprocessalongsothiscanberesolvedsoonerthanlater. Wewould liketo remindyouallofourChapter’s face-book page, “CamelliaChapterNo. 63OES.” Wewill postnews as we learn it, and may play a game or two now and then,sostaytunedforthelatestand-hopefully-alittlefun. Asthereisn'tanycurrentLodgenews,perhapsourmem-berswouldbeinterestedinalittlehistoryofyourLodge. It is written in theminutes of Humboldt Lodge No. 79thatonAugust2, 1860,apetition to theGrandMasterwasread.ThispetitionwassignedbynineMasterMasonsingoodstandingresidingonornearthetownofHydesvilleininHum-boldtCounty,requestingthataMasonicLodgeformedthere.We also learn that Humboldt Lodge recommended to theGrandMaster that a dispensation be issued to form such aLodge.ThedispensationwasgrantedonAugust25,1860. The passage of time and devastation of fire have de-stroyedmanyof our earliest records and little is learnedofourhistoryuntilOctober4,1866.HoweverapreservedTiler'sRegisterindicatesthatameetingofEelRiverLodgewasheldunder dispensation in Hydesville on January 5, 1861.
