Wow! Here we are starting out a new year.
It was only three years ago when I came to a meeting, said, “Hello” and was welcomed with a nice round of applause. Everyone was so friendly and sociable that I joined the club
immediately.
Now, I’ve been elected president and I want to say, “Thank You” to everyone and I know we will have a really fun year.
Herb Guck has been elected the Vice President of Activities, my previous position, and I know he has some fun events planned for this year. Everyone should remember that “you” can plan and conduct events and cruises, too. Last year, we had several members conduct some great cruises. Some of those cruises were: Dawn Norman, event manager of the Panama City Beach cruise; Tonie Etter, event manager for the Lane Orchards Cruise; and Wayne Mobley, event manager for the Fall Color Cruise.
All that is asked is that you give Herb your plans so that the information can be placed in the “info” section on the Web Events Page. Herb, as well as myself, can assist in planning if you would like. We can also help create an info web page. If you create your own pdf or doc info page, we can use that.
Please remember and take extra care to ensure that all parades are cleared with the VP of Activities and that all passengers are transported and disembarked, from our Corvettes, in a secure area. We do not want our participants exposed to normal traffic after the parade. We should have either blocked-off special separate travel lanes or a police escort.
Everyone is also encouraged to take pictures and send them to me. I will post them again this year on the photos link as I did last year. Dropbox.com is a free and easy way to share your pictures. There are, of course, other free picture storage websites, as well. Just call me or send me an email if you need some help.
For 2016, Anna Edwards has agreed to take the secretary job and Sara Diehl has agreed to become our treasurer.

Valentine’s Day Cruise: The next Valentine's Day Cruise will be to Lake Chatuge Lodge. We
will leave Saturday, February 13th and return Sunday February 14th. Our new VP of Activities, Herb Guck, will have all the details at our next club meeting. We have 30 rooms reserved plus our usual fun room where Greg runs those really fun (and sometimes embarrassing) games.
Dinner will be at a restaurant called the Chop House (not the one you may be used to, but it still is supposed to be very good).
Our room rate is $84 per night (plus tax). We have a block of 30 rooms which will be held until January 18th, 2016. Tell them you are with Classic Glass Corvette Club to sign up for one of the block of rooms. Book now as can cancel your reservation any time before 72 hours from February 13th.
The websites are http://www.lakechatugelodge.com for the Lodge and http://murphyschophouse.com/hiawassee/main.html for the Chop House Restaurant.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next general meeting on Tuesday January 12th!
Phil Lewis
President

CGCC Holiday Party & 2016 Officer Election - December 12, 2015
The Holiday Party was a tremendous success. Everyone commented on how well Phil planed the party and all agreed it was the best party in many years. The surprise of the night was the Red Corvette driven into the ballroom earlier in the afternoon for the party. Totally awesome!
The food was delicious and the ice cream station was a big hit.
Ken was presented a C6 car cover and a plaque for his great leadership as President for the past two years. Ken presented each of the glasses to each of the members of the Board of Directors. The glasses represented the year of everyone's Vette: two glasses with the corvette logo and two glasses with the logo of each BOD Member's car.
A highlight of the night was the fierce bidding between Lorraine and Calvin for the NCM banner. Lorraine won. Good thing Mike was outside during the bidding as it was his surprise Christmas gift! Lorraine said he was blown away on Christmas Day.

CORVETTE NAMED A ‘BEST SOUNDING NEW CAR’ BY ROAD AND TRACK (eNews December 24, 2015)
Road and Track has posted their picks for the “10 Best Sounding New Cars for Under $100,000” and not surprisingly, the C7 Z06 made the cut.
The gallery caption stated “The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is an absolute monster. It makes 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque out of its 6.2-liter supercharged LT4, and in the right hands, it can run a sub-10.5 second quarter mile. It sounds absolutely devilish.”
2016 Corvette Hall of Fame Announced (eNews December 10, 2015)
The National Corvette Museum has announced the following inductees to be recognized as part of the 19th Annual Corvette Hall of Fame Ceremony in 2016: Bob Bondurant in the category of Racing; Ralph Kramer in the category of GM/Chevrolet; and Donna Mae Mims in the category of Enthusiast. These three individuals will be recognized with the highest honor bestowed by the Museum for their contributions to the past, present and future of Corvette.

GM Invests $44 Million in Bowling Green General Motors said Wednesday it will invest $44 million in the Bowling Green Assembly plant to support increased capacity in its Performance Build Center, adding 36 new jobs. Construction and tool re-arrangement is planned to start in January 2016.

The expansion of the Performance Build Center is fueled by the success of the Corvette Z06, which currently accounts for nearly a third of all Corvettes produced at Bowling Green Assembly.
The Performance Build Center also offers a one-of-a-kind experience for customers, the Build Your Own Engine program. This program allows customers to assemble the 650-hp supercharged LT4 engine for their cars. The $5,000 option package includes a full day with a Performance Build Center engine assembly technician who instructs and oversees the build, a personalized engine plaque identifying the customer and professional photography.
New to the Floor 1954 Motorama Corvair Experimental Concept Car Replica
The 1954 Corvette Corvair concept was a two-door fastback, two-passenger coupe. When it debuted at the 1954 GM Motorama in New York City, it was a ruby red color, but was repainted a light sea foam green for the subsequent Los Angeles show. The Corvair used the Corvette's front end, though it sported ribbed air intakes on the hood that routed air to
the interior and fender vents that allowed heat to escape the engine compartment. The Corvair had a wrap-around windshield and the roof was aircraft-inspired sweeping back into the chrome-trimmed license plate housing, which resembled a jet-fighter exhaust port.
This Corvair was built by Brett Henderson of Blue Flame Restoration with the help of the owner, Michael Terry. Every effort was taken to duplicate the legendary Motorama Corvair. All the body panels except the two front fenders were custom built, including all of the window glass. The car is on loan from Michael Terry of Greenwood IN and can be seen in the "Town Square" exhibit area of the Museum.

Low VIN Corvettes at Barrett-Jackson
Barrett-Jackson is set to light up the auction block with an eclectic docket of Chevrolet Corvettes during the nine-day 45th Anniversary auction from Jan. 23-31, 2016, at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Among these highly sought-after American cars are three VIN #001 Corvette convertibles from 1955-1957, a 1954 roadster that was entombed until 1986, as well as two of the greatest original 1967 427/435s to ever cross the block.
“I couldn’t be more excited about the docket of Corvettes that are consigned for our 45th Anniversary Auction in Scottsdale this coming January,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “We always have exceptional groupings of Corvettes at our auctions, but this may be the best we’ve ever consigned.”
Three VIN #001 Corvettes from 1955, 1956 and 1957 will cross the auction block at the 45th Anniversary Scottsdale Auction. The 1955 convertible (Lot #1351/pictured above),wearing a Polo White exterior, features a 265ci V8 engine and scored a 99.3 that led to a 2008 NCRS Top Flight award. The Venetian Red and white 1956 convertible (Lot #1352) features the first dual 4-barrel production engine and is rated at 225hp with a special solid-lifter Duntov 098 camshaft. The third VIN #001 Corvette is a 1957 Cascade Green and beige convertible (Lot #1353). It was not only the first production 283ci Corvette, but the first production 283ci Chevrolet vehicle with the majority of the components dated July 1956, including the engine, transmission and differential.
Among the most anticipated Corvettes set to star at the 45th Anniversary Scottsdale Auction is the famous “Entombed” Corvette. This 1954 Corvette roadster (Lot #1279) was owned by Richard Sampson, a successful business man in Maine who entombed the car in a brick and mortar vault in 1959. It was removed by Sampson’s daughter in 1986 and has been preserved ever since. An amazing piece of American history, this Corvette has the same 2,335 miles that were on the odometer when it finally saw daylight again, 28 years after its entombment.
“Every one of these Corvettes has a story associated with it,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “It has been exciting to work with their owners who have cared for these remarkable collector cars. I think it will be just as exciting to see these cars pass on to the next set of owners, who will help carry on and preserve these amazing Corvette legacies.
Originally owned by musician Freddie Haeffner, this 1967 Corvette 427/435 convertible (Lot #1372) has been nicknamed the “Music Car.” Purchased in 1967, it was used to promote Haeffner’s band in car shows and parades until 1987. The Corvette has received multiple Bloomington Gold certificates, is part of the Bloomington Gold Hall of Fame, is also a five-time NCRS Regional or National Top Flight award recipient and was awarded the coveted NCRS Duntov Mark of Excellence. Documented by GM Corvette Order Copy, this Rally Red Corvette, as originally built, still retains a close-ratio 4-speed transmission, 3.55 posi-traction, F41 suspension, telescopic steering column, power brakes, N89 bolt-on wheels, side exhaust, transistor ignition, 7.75x15 Firestone non-DOT red line tires, tinted glass, AM/FM radio and the original white soft-top. Alongside the “Music Car” is another very rare, original 1967 427/435 Corvette coupe (Lot #1371). It is one of very few documented 1967 435s produced in Tuxedo Black with black leather interior. This Corvette features the original drivetrain, Window Sticker, Tank Sheet, interior, paint and GM Trim Tag validating the color

combination. Under the hood is a factory-original 435hp engine and 4-speed close-ratio transmission, along with a factory-original side-exhaust. It is one of the most well-preserved, low mileage, unrestored 1967 427/435 coupes in existence.
