Cambridge University Press, Cambridge English Language Assessment and Centrul de Carte Străină Sitka have the pleasure to invite you to share experience through the Cambridge University Press Seminar to be held in Piteşti, Colegiul Național “I.C Brătianu“ on September 4th 2015.

The event is organized by Centrul de Carte Straina Sitka. A display of the latest ELT Cambridge University Press titles will be available as well as promotional materials from Cambridge English Language Assessment.

This event is FREE to all teachers of English, nevertheless registration is required. Coffee will be provided free of charge. All attendees will receive a free sample copy of one of the most recent publications from Cambridge University Press.

Certificates of attendance will also be provided to all participants.

SpeakersANDRZEJ RACZKOWSKY - Cambridge Univeristy PressGiving Children a Head Start in English: Tips and Resources.ABSTRACT: Cambridge English: Young Learners tests are designed to make learning fun and motivate children to work towards certificates – Starters, Movers and Flyers – by earning the ‘shields’ that record their progress in the four communication skills. We will look at ways of developing and assessing these skills in the primary classroom. A teacher working with young learners can find a wide range of materials in both print and digital formats. This workshop will help you identify your teaching needs and save preparation time by selecting and blending materials that are most suitable for your students.

BIODATA: Andrzej Raczkowski holds an MA in Linguistics from Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences, and CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (UK). He currently manages a training company and works as a teacher trainer, educational consultant and Cambridge Speaking Examiner. His professional interests include ELT methodology, effective study skills, and second language acquisition.

SARAH ELLIS - Cambridge English Language AssessmentSuccessful writing: exploring the effective staging of B1 and B2 Writing tasks.

ABSTRACT: This presentation will present a principled framework for the staging of classroom writing activity for B1 and B2 learners and look at practical examples of tasks that meet staged objectives. Reference to criteria identified in the Cambridge Common Scale of Writing will be made throughout and we will also focus on the relationship between writing work and other skills work done in class and ways of closely integrating writing input in the classroom with extended writing work done out of class.BIODATA: Is now Head of Assessment Services, Southern Europe for Cambridge English Language Assessment. She has an extensive background in teaching and teacher training in both Italy and the UK and has taught Englishto students of all ages and levels. She has trained teachers on CELTA and DELTA courses and has also worked with teachers in the Italian State School system. Sarah has been involved with Cambridge English examinations forover 15 years as oral examiner, presenter and as Centre Examinations Manager. She is responsible for the Cambridge English Language Assessment teacher support programme for Italy for which provides information, materials and support for teachers at seminars, conferences and events throughout Italy.
