CBSE RESULTS: AISSCE - 2018

Supriya Kaushik, of the Humanities stream, brought laurels to Cambridge School, Noida, by

securing the All-India 3rd rank in the AISSCE - 2018 (CBSE Class XII Board) Examinations.

Supriya, the school topper, scored an aggregate of 99.4 per cent. A student of Humanities, she

scored a perfect 100 in English, History and Psychology, 99 in Political Science and 98 in

Geography. Of the 143 students who appeared for the examinations, 38 scored more than 90 per

cent aggregate while 142 secured a first division.

The Principal, Mrs. Dipannita Mondal, expressed her immense pleasure and congratulated the

staff and students for the excellent results. She reiterated that the stellar performance was

possible only with the unstinted support of the management and the brilliant team work.

Roy and Vanya Verma scored an aggregate of 98%. It is heartening to note that many students

have scored a perfect 100 in different subjects. Of the 178 students who appeared for the AISSE

2018, 55 students scored an aggregate of more than 90% while 168 were placed in First Division.

Principal Ms. Dipannita Mondal congratulated the students and lauded the teachers for their hard

work and sincerity and urged them to scale greater heights.

BOOK WEEK 2018

To foster reading habit amongst the students and to enhance and develop language/ literary skills,

Cambridge School, Noida celebrated the annual Book Week from 1st May, 2018 to 5th May, 2018.

The school hosted numerous In House and Intra Class activities and events. The school buzzed

with activities and competitions like Script Writing in English for Class VII, Book Cover Designing

for Class VIII, Sanskrit Shloka Chanting for Class VIII, Hindi Kavi Sammelan for Class IX, Hindi

Poetry Recitation for Class VI, Poster Making for Class IX and a Quiz on Current Affairs for Class

XI and XII. A Book Review on Mitch Albom’s book Tuesdays with Morrie was presented by the

students of Class X.

To help students develop an interest in foreign languages, German and French Song

Competitions were also conducted during the Book Week. NIE Workshops were organised for the

students of Classes VI- IX such as Madhubani Painting for Class IX, Paper Bag Making for Class

VIII and Mask Making for Class VII

The event called DEAR (Drop Everything and Read’) was held for the whole school where all read

a book or a newspaper for 20 minutes. A Book Exhibition was held by Krishna Publishers and

students were seen flocking the stall and browsing through books with great interest.

The celebrations culminated with the Valedictory Function which commenced with the auspicious

lighting of the lamp amidst chanting of Shlokas. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr.

Sandhya Rani Sahu, Professor English, NCERT. The function was graced by Dr. Kalyani Roy

Secretary SAE, Principal Ms. Dipannita Mondal, Vice Principal (Administration) Mr. AK Bakshi,

Vice Principal (Academics) Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy and members of the Management Committee.

The programme included a Western Dance performance highlighting the essence of childhood, a

Hindi play on values, German and French songs and a rendition of a soliloquy of Romeo from the

play Romeo and Juliet. The avid readers and the winners of various competitions were felicitated

by the Chief Guest. Dr. Sahu in her address inspired the students to become good and

responsible citizens of the future and lead the nation to greater heights through education: the key

to mindful emancipation.

SEVEN AGES OF RABINDRA NATH TAGORE

A musical journey was undertaken to celebrate the birth anniversary of the great Indian poet

Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore on 17th May, 2018 at the Roma Deb Auditorium in Cambridge

School, Noida.

The programme captured the highlights of the poet’s life right from his childhood to his prime

achievements in life, his views, his interests, his passions, his creative pursuits etc. All this was

depicted through relevant clippings, presentations, dance, music, poetry recitations.

The members of the Management Committee along with the students of Class IX with their

teachers witnessed this collage of performances by teachers and students.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR PARENTS (IX &X)

Cambridge School Noida conducted an orientation programme for the parents of Class IX and X

students on 19thMay, 2018 at the Roma Deb Auditorium. Ms. Dipannita Mondal, the Principal in

her welcome address emphasised upon the need for proactive and meaningful interactions

between the teachers and parents for the holistic development of the students. The Principal

urged the parents to have a ‘strong connect’ with their children and channelize their energy in a

positive direction. She emphasised upon the need to be sensitive towards the specially-abled

children and to have regular interactions with the school counsellor and special educator regarding

their progress. Alluding the parents’ concerns, the Principal assured them that the school is

actively working towards providing better transport facilities. She reiterated that whilst the school

would provide complete support for the overall development of the students, there won’t be any

dilution in the school promotion policies. The Principal appreciated the active involvement of the

parents and intimated that their constructive feedback and suggestions are essential and the

school attaches a lot of importance to them.

Class coordinators, Ms. Kiran Sibal and Ms. Puneet Kaur briefed the parents about the school’s

philosophy, the guiding principles and the rules and regulations. Comprehensive information on

the CBSE Evaluation Pattern and the promotion criteria was shared with the parents. This was

followed by an interactive session wherein the specific concerns raised by the parents were

addressed by Ms Nandita Sinha Roy, Vice Principal (Academics). She thanked the parents for

their presence and valuable feedback. At the end of the Parents’ orientation.

WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS

TINKER FEST

Two students Shashwat Singh of Class X- C and Abhay Saxena of Class X-E along with the

Computer Teacher Ms. Sandhya Puri attended a workshop on 5th May, 2018 at Bal Bharti Public

School, Brij Vihar, Ghaziabad. Students were given hands-on experience in the use of technology

tools like computational thinking, IoT and 3D Printing.

The Workshop Tinker Fest helped students in understanding the basic concepts of STEM

(Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) by providing them with an opportunity to

work with tools and equipment.

LECTURE ON APPLICATIONS OF BIOTECHNOLOGY IN FORENSIC SCIENCE

A lecture on Applications of Biotechnology in Forensic Science was organized by ERC-Noida

on 4th May, 2018 at the Roma Deb Auditorium, Cambridge School, Noida. Prof. Daman Saluja, a

professor at Medical Biotechnology Laboratory, Dr. B R Ambedkar Centre for Biomedical

Research , University of Delhi was the resource person .Class XII Biology students of all the

branches of Cambridge along with their Biology teachers attended the lecture. It was also

attended by Dr.Kalyani Roy, Manager, Cambridge School, Noida, Ms. Purnima Mehta, Col. D

Choudhary, Academic Advisor, ERC, Ms. Nalin Anju, Academic Co-ordinator, ERC.

It was an enriching exposure for everybody especially the students where the speaker, Prof.

Saluja explained the importance of DNA fingerprinting in solving many high profile cases in India

and abroad. She also explained the principles and processes involved in DNA fingerprinting. The

lecture which was very interesting and engrossing ended with an interactive session where Prof.

Daman Saluja answered the queries of the audience.

THEATRE PRESENTATION: PSYCHOTHERAPY The students of Psychology of Classes XII-D and XII-E presented a theatre on the theme

Psychotherapies on 14th and 15thMay, 2018 at the Roma Deb Auditorium in Cambridge School,

Noida. It was attended by Class XII students, parents, teachers and Counsellors of all sister

schools and Cambridge School, Noida. The presentation included three slice-of-life acts

categorising three different therapies, namely- Psychodynamic Therapy, Behaviour Therapy and

Cognitive Therapy.

In the process of formulating the script for the plays, the children were required to internalise the

academic concepts and produce storylines that justified the course of the therapies in a manner

that was lucid enough for the edification of the audience.

Since rehabilitation is essential in the case of psychotherapies, the students learnt the importance

of mental recuperation post the termination of any therapeutic procedure. All in all, the psychology

theatre was an enriching experience that provided the students with practical insights into the

pertinence of psychology and its application beyond the lineation of textbook material.

CHARTING YOUR CAREER IN GRADE XII

On 16thMay, 2018, the students of Class XII accompanied by Ms. Sunetra Banerjee, Head of

Department of Psychology attended an Enrichment Programme Charting your Career in Grade

XII at Kothari International School, Noida. The programme was divided into four sessions and it

included topics such as Studying Abroad and How to Score well in 2019 Boards.

Eminent personalities such as Mr. Jitin Chawla, a renowned Career Counsellor and Dr. Aruna

Broota, a well-known Psychologist and Hypnotherapist, interacted with the students. Mr. Chawla

stated that to make a judicious career choice, one should consider the interest, ability and aptitude

of the child. He informed the students about making a career as an Entrepreneur in Pet Care

Services, Personal Greeting Card making, etc. He discussed emerging Science based careers in

Food Technology, Dairy Science, Agriculture Science, Bioinformatics, Nanotechnology, etc. He

talked about other emerging careers such as Wedding Choreography, Apparel Designing and

Merchandising, Fashion columnist, etc. He informed the students about the best colleges,

universities for Science, Commerce and Humanities.

Dr. Broota mesmerized the audience with her informative lecture where she emphasized the

importance of time management and hard work during the vacation and reiterated that there are

no short cuts to success.

WORKSHOP ON EFFECTIVE SPEAKING

A workshop on Verbal Communication Learning and Effective Speaking Techniques was

organized by the Educational Resource Centre (ERC) at Cambridge School, Noida on 18th May,

2018. The resource person for the workshop was Mr Rakesh Jagtiani, an accomplished voiceover

artist, trainer and the founder CEO (Voiceline).

The workshop was attended by Ms Anubha Rawat and five students viz. Anushree Mukherjee (XII

E), Fatima Zaidi (XII E), Saksham Mishra (XI D), Jyotika Tomar (X E) and Shashwat Mehrotra (X

E) along with teachers and students from sister schools.

Mr. Rakesh Jagtiani stressed upon the importance of effective verbal communication,

characteristics of a good speech, importance of active listening and ways to improve speaking

skills. The students had an enriching experience where they got an opportunity to speak on

professional microphones followed by feedback on their voice recordings. Thereafter, Mr Jagtiani

gave a detailed presentation on voiceover training and its utility in e-learning and advertising

industries. The students also watched interesting videos of voiceover recordings by renowned

artists. The workshop concluded with an invigorating interactive session. The students were also

given a booklet containing tips and advices for developing communication skills.

WORKSHOP ON 3D GEOMETRY

Students of Classes XI and XII from the department of Fashion Studies and Fine Arts attended a

workshop on 3D Geometry on 18th May, 2018 organized by Indian Institute of Art and Design in

Cambridge School, Noida.

The students had an interactive session with the IIAD teachers and discussed about creativity and

geometry in everyday life and its use in fashion, architecture etc.

During the workshop students were told to make any article of clothing or accessory from scrap

materials like newspaper, pieces of brown paper etc. incorporating geometrical shapes like cones,

cylinders, etc. Students created interesting things like hats, sleeves, dresses, belts etc. with it, and

after completion by each team the students were given valuable inputs by the teachers for further

improvement. Students gained insight about things like time management, accuracy and

importance of thinking out of the box in the process.

The workshop ended with a lively discussion and filling and submission of feedback forms by the

students.

CAPACITY BUILDING FOR TEACHERS

SEMINAR: A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE PLAYS- MOTHER'S DAY AND ON THE FACE OF IT

The English Department of Cambridge School, Noida organised a seminar on the topic A

Comparative Study of the Plays- Mother's Day and On the Face of it from the English Literature

texts of Class XI and XII in the Roma Deb Auditorium on 10thMay, 2018.It was presented

by Senior English teachers Ms. Latika Joshi and Ms. Deepa Wadhwa along with a team of

students from Class XII. Using videos, power point presentation the teachers spoke about the two

plays, bringing out the similarities, plot, technique, characterization and themes of the two plays.

It was attended by the Manager, Dr. Kalyani Roy and members of the management. Other

attendees were teachers and students from sister schools and students of Class XI and XII from

Cambridge School, Noida.

REGIONAL CONFERENCE OF SCHOOL TEACHERS: GUIDANCE BASED

SCHOOL EDUCATION – THE EMERGING CONCEPT

The Institute of Counsellor Training Research and Consultancy (ICTRC) organized a contact

program on Guidance Based School Education at Tagore International School, East of Kaliash

on 12thMay, 2018. Ms. Mythili Natarajan, Ms. Puneet Kaur, Ms. Jyoti Aggarwal and Ms. Vasundhra

Kaushik from Cambridge School, Noida attended this programme.

The objective of the program was to increase the awareness level of school teachers so that they

are able to apply principles of guidance and counselling to deal with learning and behaviour

problems. The resource person Dr V S Ravindran, DG, ICTRC shared the myths associated with

counselling and discussed the transformation in the role of teachers from a facilitator to a coach

and from a coach to a mentor. It was an informative workshop which focussed on training school

teachers to become Teacher Counsellors.

LECTURE ON THE POWER OF INVESTING FOR FINANCIAL FREEDOM An Interactive lecture by Mr Varun Malhotra on The Power of Investing for Financial Freedom

was organised by ERC at Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri on 21st May, 2018.Sixty teachers of the

Senior wing and Junior wing along with two members from the Accounts office of Cambridge

School, Noida attended the lecture.

The objective of the session was to empower each participant to make the best of their financial

resources today for a financially secure future. It was indeed a very useful workshop by Mr Varun

Malhotra, a financial expert and alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad who shared some valuable tips and

actually helped those present in the gathering to understand the power of investing.

JEWELS OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE- FIGURES OF SPEECH

A seminar on Jewels of English Language - Figures of Speech was organised at Cambridge

School, Greater Noida on 19thMay, 2018. The seminar was conducted by Ms. Renu Narayan, PGT

English, Ms. Harsh Chauhan, TGT English and Ms. Nidhi Kumar, PRT.

It was a very informative session wherein a plethora of literary devices substantiated with

examples were discussed with the help of a ppt. The students of Cambridge School, Greater

Noida performed an action song depicting some literary devices like simile and metaphor. The

seminar was attended by Ms. Veena Sirohi, Director Cambridge School, Greater Noida, Dr. (Mrs.)

Rekha Bhushan Principal, students and teachers of sister schools. Ms. Shamoly Ghosh and Ms.

Kakolee Sengupta from Cambridge School, Noida attended the seminar. The workshop concluded

with an interactive session wherein students were encouraged to use literary devices in speaking /

writing in order to enrich their language.

COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES

On 21st May, 2018 Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri had organized a seminar to create awareness

on community based services. The seminar focused on the understanding of different types of

such services and their significance. The school is linked to various organizations like

Missionaries of Charity, Udyaan, Kilkari, Goonj etc. to whom they lend support time and again on

an ongoing basis.

Various kinds of projects were also highlighted and discussed like Creating Awareness,

Volunteering, Environmental Awareness, visit to Old Age Homes and Orphanages etc. Ms.

Roomki Mitra Special Educator & Child Psychologist attended from Cambridge School, Noida.

CAPACITY BUILDING FOR ACCOUNTANCY

A two day workshop was conducted by CBSE on Capacity Building for Accountancy for Class

XII at Apeejay School, Noida on 28th and 29th May, 2018. Around 60 - 65 teachers from various

schools of NCR took part in the workshop. The Resource Persons Mr. S. S. Sherawat and Mr.

Gaurav Palliwal discussed topics like blueprint of a question paper, how to set a balanced

question paper, latest changes in curriculum and Companies Act of 2013, project work and how to

increase the skill and understanding of the students. The workshop was very interactive and

fruitful. Various handouts were given which will be used for the benefit of the students. Ms.

Sumathy Ragunath and Ms. Mythili Natrajan from Cambridge School, Noida attended the

workshop.

WORKSHOP ON TAKING SOCIAL SCIENCE OUT OF THE CLASSROOM

The Society for the Advancement of Education (SAE) organized a four day workshop on Taking

Social Science Out of the Classroom from 22ndMay, 2018 to 25thMay,2018 at Gazaar. Resource

person for the workshop was Mr Harendra Chakhaiyar, Principal, Cambridge School, Indirapuram.

There were about 20 teachers from Cambridge School fraternity who attended the workshop. Four

teachers viz. Ms. Puneet Kaur, Ms. Rachna Arora, Ms. Bindu and Mr. Zubair Ahmed, represented

Cambridge School, Noida. The objective of the training programme was to make Social Science

Curriculum interesting for middle and senior school by providing experience related to real life

situations. The training programme was designed to encourage Field Survey Method as a

teaching methodology. The workshop was very informative, educative and an eye opener as it

helped dispel many perceptions regarding life in rural areas. It gave the participants an insight to

introduce research based project which can be incorporated in teaching and learning process.

TRIPS AND EXCURSIONS

TREKKING IN MUSSOORIE

27 students of Cambridge School, Noida accompanied by three teachers Ms. Anikini Dhall, Ms.

Seema Dimri and Mr. Karan Dhawan went for a trek to Dhobighat, Mussoorie, in Uttrakhand for

two days, 25th and 26thMay, 2018. Students thoroughly enjoyed their stay in tents located in the lap

of the Himalayas. On 26th morning after breakfast the students started their trek to Benong Tibba,

the highest peak in Mussoorie and completing the trek of 11 kilometres was an exhilarating

experience for them. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to each student by Indiatrek

Company, which had arranged the trek. The students learnt about "Green Trek", conservation of

nature and how to recycle the non-biodegradable wastes of nature, most importantly, the

conservation of water.

MASHOBRA GREENS, SHIMLA TRIP

Cambridge School, Noida, organized a trip to Mashobra Greens, Shimla for 70 students of

class XII ( 37 boys and 33 girls) and 4 teachers, Mr Akhilesh, Mr Mangeram, Mr Rohit Dhingra ,

Ms Madhumita Ray AND Ms Arpita Paul from 28th May,2018 till 1st June, 2018.

On 28/05/18 the group departed from the school at 9.15 pm, stopped at Murthal for light

refreshments, and finally reached at Mashobra Camp on 29/05/18 at 8.00 am. After breakfast the

students and teachers went for the adventures: Rappelling and flying fox. The students enjoyed

those activities and returned for lunch. Some of the students who could not do Rappelling and

flying fox, went for the same and the remaining played the cricket. After Evening snacks they had

Bonfire and DJ followed by dinner.

The next day the students after breakfast went for the adventures activities: Rope obstacles,

commando nets, Burma Bridge, Tarzan fall, double trouble. In the evening some of them went for

night trekking and came back had Bonfire and DJ followed by dinner.

On the 31st morning after checking out and the group proceeded to Mall road Shimla. After

shopping and lunch at Dommino’s the team visited Lakkar Bazar, Church and boarded the bus for

school. The group stopped for dinner at Pinjore and came back school at 6.00 am, 1/06/18. The

overall trip was very enjoyable and made the trip successful.

TRIP TO MOTHER DAIRY

102 students from Classes IX B, C and D along with their Class Teachers and Biology teacher Ms.

Kiran Sibal visited the Mother Dairy plant at Patparganj, New Delhi on 17th May, 2018. The

children were addressed by an officer who shared details about the products which are processed

and marketed by Mother Dairy Fruits and Vegetables Private Limited.

The students were shown around the plant which consisted of automated machines for

standardisation, clarification, homogenisation, fortification and pasteurisation. The students were

taken to the next complex where they saw huge silos with a capacity of I lakh litres of milk per silo.

They were also shown the laboratory where tests for common adulterants of milk- caustic soda

and urea are carried out. This was followed by a short movie based on the history, functioning of

the machines in the plant, testing and maintenance of the cold chain. The importance of milk as a

complete meal (lacking only in Iron and Vitamin C) was also discussed.

The children were treated to unlimited glasses of chilled Vanilla milk and large scoops of chocolate

ice-cream. The trip to the plant was indeed a very satisfying and enriching experience for the

children.
