Fill Hole Functions to create parting surface

Provides easy operation to create com-pensated surfaces at the complex and massed fillets.

Creates a tapered surface which is con-nected with the surface by specified angle.

Makes it easy to create an electrode to eliminate a large percentage of mold modeling. It extracts electrode shape from the work model and has also a wide variety of functions to create elec-trode like the filling of the hole after extraction. The flexibility which is an advantage of surface modeler greatly reduces the man-hours of operation.

2.5D CAM

HOLE Hole feature can be defined by Entity, based not only on Point Circle but Arc /Curve/Surface. Hole processes are controlled on the “Calculation Process List” the same as 2.5D/3D. This provides safe Hole cutting because of interference checking for the remaining stock model after machining. It is also possible to improve efficiency of Hole cutting thanks to optimized CL.

It’s possible to set multiple sections at the contour of wire frame and define a pocket and an island shape. Section and plane parts which are machined by 2-axis /2.5-axis in the surface model are detected and cutter paths are generated.

Z-level Cutting with Multiple Tools (Roughing/Re-machining)

Z-Level Roughing/Re-machining with multiple tools can be used to develop various processes from rough cutting to semi-finishing. Areas, where stock is left from the previous process, are automatically detected by the system, and cutter paths are output only for the detected area. As a result, it reduces air-cuts. Some special functions, including “Inserting R on the sharp angled corners” or “Removing the remaining stock”, allow users to operate machining data efficiently with a sense of security. Combination of Ball/Radius/Flat end mill is available.

Optimization Cutting Range (Specify Machining Surface)

Optimization can be performed with Tool registered in DB and simulates the milling to show the condition of the work after machining and to also check the interference point. It’s also possible to generate tool path more efficiently and safely because of “Delete air-cut”, “Auto clearance”, “Variable feed rate”, etc.

This is the method to decide the machining area by specifying a contact point between the shape and the tool.It’s possible to generate cutter paths on only the surfaces which the user wants to machine.

Z-level Re-machining / Corner Processing (Polygon)Z-level Finishing Curve Control Along Surface

Performing Z-level cutting, which uses climb cutting, suitable for high-speed and high-precision machining, enables a high-quality surface finish required for mold manufacturing. It is also possible to cut near-horizontal areas by adding “Offset cutting”, or by using “Flat part circumference” or “Scanning-line area” together. Z-level Finishing has been widely used from the semi-finishing process to the finishing process.

Even if UV parameters of the adjacent surfaces are not consistent with each other, creates continuous tool paths on the surfaces. It is effective especially in the case that “Staying On the Surface Cutting” is needed for time reduction. Moreover, cutting from the direction perpendicular to the surface, is effective not only for finishing but also rough cutting on the particular area.

It’s possible to generate cutter paths automatically for remaining stock areas by referencing the previous process information.By “Corner Processing (Polygon)”, groove/hole and steep areas are safely mach ined with Z-level tool paths, gent ly sloped a reas a re eff icient ly machined along surface. By “Z-level Re-machining”, all the remains are machined with Z-level tool paths to make uniform the remaining stock. Both cutting modes can create additional passes to maintain constant tool load for all remaining areas.

5-AXIS CAMDetermination of Machining Direction

Provides a variety of commands such as “Undercut Check”, “Extract Flat Part”, “Angle Shading”, for determining machining direction that is needed for 3+2 axis machining. Specifying work plane for determining machining direction, plus saving and returning to the work plane setting can be done with a simple operation.

Multiple direction drilling CL Angle

Recognizes all holes existing in a model at once. Interference check for the machined area is available, and start/end point can be optimized. It leads to safe multi direction drilling.

Machining direction and the direction of Approach/Escape can be edited without changing tool paths. It enables you to avoid interference of tool shank with the shape.

Simultaneous 5-Axis

3+2 Axis

Creates 5-axis Simultaneous tool paths, by adding the information about tool direction to 3-axis tool paths. In converting tool paths, “smoothing control” adjusts the tilt axis and rotation axis to make the Machine Tool move more smoothly. It is also possible to have the tool tilt gradually before the point where the tool direction changes rapidly. These functions provide high-quality finished surfaces.

Collision of Tool, Chuck and Holder with the shape can be avoided by controlling tilting axis automatically. Change tool direction gradually to avoid drastic change of tool direction. It minimizes the cutting mark.

Special cutting modes have been created to be widely-applied for simultaneous 5-axis machining.

[Swarf Cutting]The model shape is machined along its wall by a side of cutter. It is also possible to machine the stock step by step in both direction step-over and step-down.

[Z-level Undercut Finishing]It is possible to generate tool paths for undercut conditions.

Optimization from Multiple Directions

Optimization for 3+2 machining can be performed effectively after CAM calculation. Optimizations such as “Simulation” that includes displaying undercut areas and “Delete air-cut” by machining from multiple directions, make it possible to provide efficient and highly reliable machining data.
