The Irish Postgraduate Criminology Conference will provide a great learning and networking opportunity for PhD students from Ireland, Northern Ireland and further afield doing research in Criminology. We welcome doctoral researchers at any stage of their project. The focus of this conference is on criminological research relating to the island of Ireland. The theme of the conference is open covering a wide range of proposals in criminological theory, crime and gender, methodology, policing and punishment, victims of crime and many more.TRANSCRIPT
CALL FOR PAPERS
Irish Postgraduate Criminology Conference (IPGCC) 2016 Date: Thursday 24th March 2016
Venue: Ulster University, York St. Campus (Belfast, Northern Ireland)
Due to a number of requests the organising committee for this year’s conference is
pleased to announce that the deadline for call for papers has been extended until
Thursday 28th
January.
Building on the success of the inaugural Irish Postgraduate Criminology Conference in Dublin in
March 2015, the second annual conference will take place in Belfast on 24th March 2016. Hosted by
the Institute for Research in Social Sciences and the School of Criminology, Politics and Social Policy
at Ulster University, the conference will provide students conducting masters and doctoral research
with an opportunity to share their research findings and experiences.
The theme of the conference is open and we welcome proposals for papers covering all areas of
criminological research relating to the island of Ireland from researchers at any stage of their projects.
Papers may include those covering:
a) Corporate and State crime
b) Criminological theory
c) Crime and society
d) Gender and justice
e) Methodological approaches
f) Policing
g) Prisons and punishment
h) Social control
i) Victims of crime
Papers will be allocated to thematic sessions taking place throughout the conference. We also
welcome proposals for poster presentations.
If you would like your paper to be considered for presentation at the Conference, please submit an
abstract of no more than 250 words, along with approximately five key words to indicate the main
research area.
Please also include a short biography of no more than 100 words. If you would like to propose a
poster presentation, please submit a short abstract of 150 words, together with a short 100 words
biography.
Participation and attendance at the conference is free of charge. We regret that we are unable to offer
travel bursaries or other assistance with costs.
