SUBMISSION DEADLINE 28 FEBRUARY 2018

Technical and poster presentations for the conference will be selected from proposals submitted to the conference program committee. Early submission is particularly important to ensure that the committee members have ample time to review the paper proposals. Late proposals will not be accepted.

The deadline is 28 February 2018.

Abstract ContentA proper review of your abstract requires that it contains adequate information on which to make a judgment.

Written in English and containing 450 words, proposals should include the following:

• Objectives/Scope: Please list the objectives and/or scope ofthe proposed paper. (25–75 words)

• Methods, Procedures, Process: Briefly explain your overallapproach, including your methods, procedures and process.(75–100 words)

• Results, Observations, Conclusions: Please describe theresults, observations and conclusions of the proposed paper.(100–200 words)

• Novel/Additive Information: Please explain how this paperwill present novel (new) or additive information to the existingbody of literature that can be of benefit to and/or add to thestate of knowledge in the petroleum industry. (25–75 words)

Technical CategoriesUse the topics to indicate the topic that best describes your abstract proposal. A primary choice is required. Proposals are evaluated on the basis of the information supplied on the proposal form in accordance with the following criteria:

• The proposed abstract must contribute to petroleumtechnology or be of immediate interest to the oil and energyindustry, and should contain significant new knowledge orexperience in the oil and gas industry.

• Data in the abstract proposal must be technically correct.

• The proposed abstract may present information aboutequipment and tools to be used in exploration and production.Such proposals must show the definite applications andlimitations of such equipment and should avoid unduecommercialism and extensive use of trade names.

Prior to proposal submission, management clearance must be obtained. Any issues concerning clearance should be outlined when the abstract proposal is submitted.

CommercialismEnter a title that is concise (5-7 words), yet descriptive of the primary content and application of the proposed paper. GPS has a stated policy against use of commercial trade names, company names, or language that is commercial in tone in the paper title, text or slides. Use of such terms will result in careful scrutiny by the Technical Committee in evaluating proposals and the presence of commercialism in the abstract may result in it being withdrawn from the conference program.

Guidelines for Accepted Proposals• Your proposal could be accepted for presentation in a

technical or eposter session.

• Authors whose abstracts are accepted will be required toprovide their presentation and/or a technical paper forthe conference proceedings. GPS operates a “no material,no podium” policy whereby if the material associated withthe presentation is not received by the due date, it will bewithdrawn from the program and not allowed to be presented.

• Detailed instructions on the preparation of presentations willbe sent to corresponding author of each accepted paper.

• GPS assumes no obligation for expenses by authors for travel,lodging, food, or other incidental expenses.

• Accepted authors will be offered a discounted full conferenceregistration fee.

CopyrightAll authors of presentations or eposters presented at the conference will be required to complete and submit a copyright release form to GPS or submit the copyright exemption form where applicable.

Submittal• Obtain the necessary clearance for the proposed presentation

from your management.

• Submit your abstract proposal online. It is critical that allinformation requested on the form be provided in full and inthe order requested. The deadline is 28 February 2018.
