Stacey Wobbe has been a Registered Dental Hygienist at Greenville Rancheria since
February 2008. Prior to that, she worked for Dr. Robert Dunbar in private practice, as
an RDA since 1999. As a registered dental hygienist, she is passionate about providing
quality dental hygiene care and education, for her patients as well as the community at
large. She is currently involved with numerous public health committees, and has
participated in numerous outreach projects. She has worked with the California First
Five program, which resulted in implementing a program in her office for pregnant
women and their newborn babies to help them to establish a dental home.
Stacey also attends a quarterly Early Intervention Partnership meeting that focuses on helping children and fami-
lies obtain family resources which include social services, medical care, dental care, early school and social readi-
ness services. She has written and received an oral health mini grant that was funded by the Dental Support Cen-
ter at CRIHB, this addressed the dental needs of our Native American children in her community to ensure that
they were seen for dental exams, fluoride treatment, dental cleanings, and sealant placement.
This year, the Field Advisory Committee of the National Oral Health Council chose her for the 2015 Clinical
Excellence Award for the Dental Hygiene Senior Category for demonstration of clinical excellence in service to the
IHS Dental Program. Stacey says that watching the changes in her patients not only clinically, but to see them
actually feel better about themselves and practice continuing home care with vigor, gives her joy and fuels her
passion for dental hygiene and dentistry in general.

The Dental Support Center at California Rural Indian Health Board has successfully secured the
five year grant from the IHS for Preventive and Clinical Dental Support Centers. This award of
$250,000 per year will enable the DSC to execute our mission to promote better oral health to
AIAN communities served by the 35 tribal/urban health programs in California.
The DSC will focus on four main goals:
Program Goal 1: Build capacity by providing training and technical assistance to tribal/urban dental clinics operating in CA. Program Goal 2: Implement clinic-based initiatives to promote preventive programs to address oral dis-eases in AIAN children and adults. Program Goal 3: Conduct community-based initiatives to enhance prevention programs through Tribal Head Start, Early Head Start, and Tribal Child Care Centers. Program Goal 4: Continue to improve and enhance the services provided through Dental Support Center. The DSC staff would like to extend our gratitude to all tribal council members, and dental directors who
showed their support through tribal resolutions and letters of support for the grant application. We look forward to working with you!

An award of $125,000 per year, for three years will be for a project to promote Periodontal Disease Prevention and
to provide partial dentures to AIAN adults and seniors. Partial dentures are a service that is not covered by Medi-Cal
and the DSC is excited to be able to partner with four tribal programs to provide this much needed service.

Greenville Rancheria Dental Clinic Promotes Oral Health
at the Stillwater Powwow
On October 2nd& 3rd, 2015 Sheryl Weston, RDA and Jill Coultas, RDH
from the Greenville Rancheria clinic, set up a dental booth at the Pow-
wow held at the Shasta District Fair Grounds in Anderson, CA.
We provided information, answered dental questions and handed out
toothbrush kits, pamphlets, etc. An estimated 300 toothbrush kits
were dispensed. Twenty-one dental screenings were done, mostly on
children. We focused screenings on people with a dental concern, or
children that had yet to visit a dentist. Of the Twenty-one screened, 10
had active caries. Fluoride varnish was applied on all but one. A large percentage of people we talked with were
edentulous. Perhaps next year we can provide denture care products. Tobacco use prevention information was
handed out and the chewing tobacco cessation bags kits were quite a hit.

The Mobile Dental Units Provided by The Dental Support Center
Assists Tribal Programs to Serve Their Communities
Access to dental services has always been a challenge to the remote community of Manchester Point Arena Reservation.
On September 23rd and 24th 2015, Dental Director Joel Berryhill DDS and Melissa Bailey
RDA from SCHIP set up a mobile dental clinic in the tribal Head Start school. For the very first time the children from this rural reservation had the opportunity to access preven-tive dental services, without traveling long distances. Fifteen children received services which included exams, prophys, fluoride applications and education.
Maleese Warner, a teacher from Head Start said "The Manchester Point Arena Tribal Head Start is in a remote part of California and the closet SCIHP dental clinic is a two hour drive. The families where overjoyed to have this opportunity to have dental check-ups at the local Rancheria. We are all grateful that SCIHP came to help the families and hope to see them every year!"

TELEDENTISTRY Opens a new path for Access!
Assembly Bill 1174 was approved by the Governor which provides another
pathway to increase access to underserved populations.
Teledentistry by Store and Forward enables Medi-Cal providers to practice
teledentistry, as defined as the transmission of medical information to be
reviewed at a later time by a licensed dental provider at a distant site.
(Allied dental professionals, such as RDHAP, are not permitted to bill for
services provided via teledentistry).
Providers may bill for store and forward transmission on or after July 1,
2015. Please refer to the Denti-Cal Bulletin for further details.
