• Not a full CALICE meeting:

• Emphasise synergies with concept meetings in the second half of the week

• Provide a compact overview over recent highlights of all CALICE technologies, and an outlook on future R&D plans

• It is a CALICE meeting in the sense that work in progress and un-released results are shown and discussed - please do not freely distribute, use results released in CALICE Analysis Notes and Papers for “outside” presentations

The next full CALICE meeting will take place September 14 - 16 at UT Arlington- more on this later today by Andy White

• It is a CALICE meeting in the sense that work in progress and un-released results are shown and discussed - please do not freely distribute, use results released in CALICE Analysis Notes and Papers for “outside” presentations


Setting the Stage• Highly granular calorimeters a now the de-facto standard in HEP - to a very large

extent due to the LC-motivated R&D efforts within and outside of CALICE• They are uniquely capable of addressing the multi-facetted challenges of

upcoming experiments:• Jet (not just single particle) energy resolution• Object reconstruction in harsh background environments• Global event reconstruction• ….
