Our Commitment
to Our Volunteers
The CCAA is committed to
ensuring our volunteers are
equipped with the skills and
knowledge to be successful
in their role. Through ongoing
training, mentorship and
supervision, volunteers are
fully supported and empow-
ered to be effective and confi-
dent in supporting children
and their families as an equal
members of the team.
Children need an informed guide, a supporter and a friend to help them through the criminal justice system.
Now Recruiting Volunteers The Child Court Accompaniment Program is an extension of the current Child Witness
Court Preparation program that has been operating within Calgary since 1995. In or-
der to respond to the growing needs of child witnesses requesting court accompani-
ment for their court events in Calgary, the CCAA, in partnership with the Sheldon Ken-
nedy Child Advocacy Centre, is adding this new aspect to the current programming.
Volunteers are needed as Court Accompaniment Advocates to provide emotional sup-
port to children and their families when they are required to attend a criminal court
event. Volunteers can also provide direct support to children on the stand while they
testify in court.
Who are we looking for? The CCAA is seeking a special kind of dedicated, skilled volunteer to serve in this
role. Check out the list of competencies and see if this sounds like a fit for you or
someone you know.
