What have our grade 3 mathematicians been working on?Added and subtracted numbers within 1,000

Used place value strategies and number lines to represent addition and subtraction solutions

Developed the concept of multiplication and related it to skip counting and repeated addition; practiced basic multiplication combinations, beginning with 2's, 5's, and 10's

Represented and analyzed data on bar graphs and pictographs

What will our grade 3 mathematicians do next?Explore and reason about area and perimeter using

standard units (feet and inches) & metric units (centimeters and meters)

Identify and reason about attributes of shapes

Develop and understand the meaning of fractions and fraction notation; use representations of fractions to solve problems

Learn multiplication combinations up to 9 x 9; develop strategies for solving multiplication and division

Solve addition and subtraction problems with 3 digit numbers, working with numbers larger than 1,000
