The Rainbow Doors are back

The doors are back up and are now on the railing outsideFellowship Hall. Check them out while they're still here - they'llbe heading to another RI Conference church soon as theyspread the message that 'God's Doors Are Open To All'.

SundaySunday morning Worship for All Ages

Join us for worship at 10 am this Sunday morning with a WorshipService for All Ages. Rev. Dale Azevedo's reflection is “Who’spulling your leg? or arm? or …?” You won't want to missit!

Historical Bible Month - last Sunday!

Thisweek’s Bible is a New Revised Standard Version(NRSV) presented toBarrington Congregational Church, UCC in 1999 by the children of Elwynand Ruth Thomsen. At the same time the family also gave us all of ourcurrent pew Bibles. Dale and Brendan’s readings each week inFebruaryfrom these historical Biblesis part of our ‘3 Centuries and Beyond’ celebrations. All fourBibles that were used will be available for viewing this Sunday, February 26thduringcoffee hour.

Dale's Installation Service is this Sunday at 3 pm

The service when Rev. Dale Azevedo will be officially installed asthe Senior Minister of BCCUCC will take place this Sunday,February 26th at 3 pm in the sanctuary of our church. All areinvited. Representatives from the RI Conference will be involved inthe service, there is a guest preacher from Connecticut, and Dale's family will be here. A reception will follow in FellowshipHall. We do hope that you can join us as we officially make Daleour Senior Minister and celebrate his ministry with us!

Mission Trip 'Envelope' Fundraiser

This Sunday in Fellowship Hall you'll see the notice boardcovered in 'house' envelopes each with a different dollaramount on it. Ash Wednesday, March 1st

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. All are invited for aspecial AshWednesday service at 7 pm in the Sanctuary, and thenfor a weekly Wednesday evening service throughoutLent (seebelow for more information about all of the Wednesday eveningservices).

Wednesday evenings in Lent

This Lent, join your friends at BCCUCC for a special WednesdayeveningLenten worship series. We will gathereach Wednesdaythrough Lent at 7 pm in the Sanctuary for a brief readmeditationfollowed by communion. This year’smeditations will comefrom Robert Fulghum’s classic book, All I Really Needed to Know ILearned in Kindergarten.

This series will begin on Ash Wednesday, March 1st,with a moreinvolved Ash Wednesday service, and then continue each weekthrough Wednesday, April 5th. All are welcome.

Women's Faith Group

On Thursday, March 2nd the group will continue reading anddiscussing Crossing the Bamboo Bridge by Barrington residentMaiDonohue. Hermemoir has been described as ‘A Captivating storyof a young Vietnamese girlwho resisted all odds and realized a trueAmerican dream”. Learn more about her at www.MaiGoodness.com

NAMI Family Support Group

NAMI RI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) holds a monthly support group at ourchurch for family members of people with mental illness. The group is open to anyonein the community and they meet the first Thursday of the month from 6 – 7:30 pm inRoom 6. Their next meeting is Thursday, March 2nd and all are welcome. Those interested will meet briefly on Sunday,March 5th afterworship in Room 7. They will discuss plans for the planting ofanew tree on the terrace (to replace the birch tree that had toberemoved). After Worship Speaker Series

The theme chosen by the Mission and JusticeTeam for this year is ‘VisualizePeace’. They have supported the CommunityDinners and have worked with the East BayCitizens for Peace to presentprograms. Now, they are inviting everyoneto a SpeakerSeries that will take place after church during Lent from about11:20 am - 12:30 pm. Please join them tohear about three programs that they have supported this year thatreach out tothe wider community in both mission and advocacy.March 5th: KathleenCloutier, Executive Director of Dorcas International Institute ofRhodeIsland.March 12th: BarbSilvis, Chair, Advocacy and Justice Commission of the RI StateCouncil ofChurches.March 26th: Emily Jones, Interfaith Coordinator, RhodeIsland Interfaith Coalition toReduce Poverty. A New Book Discussion

Barrington Interfaith Partners is encouragingBarrington's houses ofworship to read and discuss the ‘Read Across RhodeIsland’ book JustMercy: a Story of Justice and Redemption by BryanStevenson;(more can be found about this program at https://ribook.org/rari/. ANew YorkTimes book reviewer describes Stevenson: "For decades hehas fought judges,prosecutors and police on behalf of those who areimpoverished, black or both.. . . Injustice is easy not to notice when itaffects people different fromourselves; that helps explain theobliviousness of our own generation toinequity today." Here atBCCUCCdiscussions will be held in the church library on Mondays, March 6th, 13th& 20th, from 7 - 8:30 pm and then all participating houses of worship will come togetheron Thursday, March 23rd in ourFellowship Hall from 7 – 8:30 pm to share thoughtsand information with eachother. Knitting for Others Group

Meets Tuesday,March 7th from 7 – 9 pm at Carol Louttit’s home - Atria Apt 204, 147Bay Spring Ave., Barrington. They continue to work on prayer shawls andother projectsand can provide patterns and help for newcomers. Allknitters/crocheters are welcome,especially new faces! The Book Group

Meets Tuesday, March 21stat 7 pm in the church library. They willdiscuss All I Loveand Know by JudithFrank: "In Frank's deeply moving secondnovel, Matt Greene andDaniel Rosen, a couple in Northampton, Mass., cope withthe deaths of Daniel's twinbrother and his wife-Israeli citizens who arekilled in a terrorist bombing in Jerusalem" (Publisher's Weekly). During the month of March, theMission and Justice Ministry Teamwill becollecting items for DorcasInternational.
