Editor’s Report

For me, November is always a

bittersweet time. I’m another year older, the

year is about over, and my To Do list is

longer, not shorter. But, I do have fun things

to look forward to like spending time with

family and enjoying all my favorite foods.

The Model A club has lots of fun

things happening, too, so make sure you plan

your time so you don’t miss anything.

Thanks to Shirley for covering all 3

past tours with photos and write-ups. Great

job!

This month’s old time photo is from

Rurik Kallis taken July 1955. “Rurik, age 18,

in wrecked Model T a week after wreck.” He

suffered 3 broken ribs as the T went end

over end. Find out more about Rurik and his

lovely wife Marge in the Getting to Know You

feature.

Happy model A’ing, SandySandySandySandy

November Tour/ Veterans Day Dinner The November tour led by Jesse and Marla Sanders will be November 11th. Everyone will be notified of

meeting time and place. We will participate in the Jackson Veterans Day Parade, have lunch out and

then tour of the area.

For those that would like, there is a Veterans dinner in Murphys that evening, free to veterans.

Hope to see you there.

September tour hosted by Adrian Nestor: It was a great day starting with doughnuts, mill tour, lunch at Covers Apple Ranch and a terrific drive home by way of Parrots Ferry Rd. We learned a lot about the new lumber processes, laws regulating lumber, had a nice time visiting with the guests that came with Dan and Eleanor, and finished the day with ice cream at Rite Aid. One of the highlights of the day came after lunch when we welcomed "Olivia", (Jess and Marla's "A") on her first tour. She did just fine and is a nice addition to the club. Thank you to Adrian for a day of learning and lots of fun for all.

Telephone Tour: October 6th proved to be a day of a true wonder. Never did we dream of a collection such as we saw. This collection must be second to none. We met at the Thorn Mansion and toured to Mountain Ranch with our leaders (Rurik and Marge) in the front. Upon arriving at Mountain Ranch, our guides would be Jesse and Marla. They showed us the way to a telephone collection that was almost unbelievable. We are still remembering all we saw. Then we all had lunch in the park and again took a great ride through the back country to Mokelumne Hill where we had a private tour of the refurbished Hotel Leger and walked the streets and, of course, had ice cream from the local store. The tour home was in different directions, but each remembering a wonderful day. We enjoyed spending time with Marge's sister and brother-in-law from Las Vegas. Thank you to Rurik and Marge for a fun filled day that will be a lifelong memory for all of us.

San Francisco Vacation WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a trip. Tom and Mary really put together a trip for us. We ate really great food at a variety of places, prime rib, food trucks, sea foods, hot dogs and hamburgers. I don't know that you could get a better variety.

We started our journey in modern cars since we had rain anticipated. Our first stop was the Jelly Belly factory for lunch and a tour. What fun!!! Then it was off to the city. We arrived at the Motel, overlooking the ocean. It was a gorgeous view. That night was our prime rib night. The next day we took a walking tour first to the Sutro bath ruins, which was the site of Tom's proposal to Mary fifty years earlier. Then we were off to tour the Golden Gate Park, the Presidio, etc., followed by a tour of The Automobile Collection at the Art museum. Boy was this neat. Then we needed to get some lunch so we were off to the food trucks. Now this was an experience: wide variety of foods, great place to sit and enjoy surroundings, and, best of all, the food was delicious. Then we were off to tour the city some more. Boy, what an advantage it is to have leaders that know the city and how to get around and what to see. Things you'd never know about or know how to find. It was a trip we will always remember. We followed all this up with a really nice seafood dinner where we were joined by Tom and Mary's son and daughter-in-law. We started our last day off with some more touring and ended up at the embarcadero and the wharf. There we were treated to some of the best hamburgers and hotdogs ever. Then, for dinner, of course, we ate on the wharf. How do we say what a terrific tour this was, I DON'T KNOW? It was laughter, fun, relaxation, and just all around fun. GREAT TRIP. Thank you TOM AND MARY
