It was all very new to me, and no one warned me how addictive it can be! I’ve temporarily set aside my tapestry needle and my linen. We had our GCC meeting right after the general meeting, and everyone seems to be excited about the project. I will be sending a progress report to PSR along with a thank you note for the funds. Audit Committee: Thank you to Linda Schultz and Marilyn Schubert who have volunteered to help with the audit of our Treasurer’s books in January. We would like one more volunteer, so if you can help for a few hours please let me know by email or phone. January will find us all very busy with the upcoming EGA/ANG joint luncheon, the garage sale, helping the Starlight Stitchers Chapter with EGA National, Exhibit “Through the Needle’s Eye”, etc. However, right now we should pause and take time to enjoy this holiday season and appreciate all of our blessings, including the friendships we have with our fellow guild members. One of our members, Linda Kanora deserves special mention. She is an inspiration with her many needlework accomplishments, her years of serving on our board, and most especially for her indomitable spirit. As you know, Linda has been battling cancer for more than a year. Lately she has not been able to join us at meetings, however she would love to stay in touch with all of us, and would welcome a note or a visit. Some of us recently visited Linda, and this photo shows how much she enjoys company both human AND canine. (Oh, and she also enjoys chocolate )

PRESIDENT’S LETTER – Helen Salkowski

Hello Fellow Stitchers,

The table was filled with delicious dishes at our December pot luck. I marvel at the wonderful, colorful variety of foods. We do not coordinate or assign food groups, yet we have them all amply represented. No one left hungry! The gift exchange was lively as several items changed hands more than once. Thanks to all of you for making and partaking in the holiday fun.

What fun this Temari GCC is! It was all very new to me, and no one warned me how addictive it can be! I’ve temporarily set aside my tapestry needle and my linen. My dining room table is full of rice hulls, serger thread, perle cotton, Temari books, and yes, even a few completed Temari balls.

Some of us recently visited Linda, and this photo shows how much she enjoys company both human

AND canine. (Oh, and she also enjoys chocolate 😉)

Vice Presidents – Betsy Smullen / Lydia Reichard

January: We’ll welcome back the New Year with a demonstration on framing a piece of needlework. Betsy will show pinning, lacing and taping and then finishing the back of a frame. Bring a piece that you have framed or would like to frame. For your pieces still to be framed, if there is not time to review them during our program hour, plan to stay after our business meeting and we can discuss then.

February: EGA National Study Box Introduction to Color Theory: “Color and value exercises galore and an extensive bibliography will help you learn how to enhance your embroidery.” We shall have fun playing with color!

HOSPITALITY Claudia Hester

We have volunteers for the January and February meeting. Need volunteer signups for March, April, May, and June, 2018.

WORKSHOPS Barbara Lewis / Karen Swanson

Sign up for Bloom! Tucson ANG Chapter is sponsoring a class that has a great opportunity to learn several unusual flowers using ribbon. There are none that are just lazy daisies! The teacher is Jennifer Reifenberg and she is a great teacher. The total cost is $100. It is being held Feb 15-16 from 9-3ish at the Ellie Towne Flowing Wells Community Center. We welcome Tucson EGA members that would like to take the class.

Right now I need a check for $25 made out to Tucson Chapter ANG to hold your place. The ‘drop-dead’ date is Jan 1st. Please mail checks with email address and phone number to me, Barbara Lewis, 8041 E. Presidio Rd., Tucson, AZ 85750 Thanks! Barb

BEADING Jane Matter

Our next beading meeting will be January 11th at 9:30 at Ellie Town Hall Center.

The January project will be a Sweetheart bracelet. It is a string of heart elements based on the triangle peyote earrings we made a while back. I will have patterns available for $2.

We also have a pattern selected for February - Patterns of the Serengeti from the June/July 2009 Beadwork magazine. The digital issue of the magazine is available online for $6 as a download (https://www.interweave.com/store/beadwork-june-july-2009-digital-edition.

- If you attended the beaded scissor case workshop, bring that to work on - Sharon will be there for assistance and encouragement.

- And you can always bring your own stitching project.

Please come and join us with whatever project you have in hand.
