GeneralThis document describes 2 different options for cable harnesses for bodywork func-tions. The options allow the vehicle to be adapted by connecting signals between the cab and frame; see illustration.

The cable harness from cab to frame (1) is installed at the factory and runs from the bodywork console in the cab and out to the chassis frame. More information can be found under the headingCable harness from cab to frame.

The extension cable harness (2) is supplied from the factory and connected by the bodybuilder. More information can be found under the heading Extension cable har-ness on the frame.

Cable harness from cab to frameIMPORTANT!

All conductors in the cable harness must be protected from overloading by fuses or electronic overload protection.

The signals from the bodywork console are lead out to bodywork functions on the chassis frame by means of a cable harness. The cable harness runs from harness-to-harness connector C494 in the bodywork console to 1, 2 or 3 DIN connectors on the frame. The number of DIN connectors depends on which variant of the option the ve-hicle is specified with. The DIN connectors are located behind the left-hand front wheel, see illustration.

All DIN connectors are 7-pin and marked according to the table. More information on options and variants can be found under the heading Ordering options.

For ADR-classed vehicles, the DIN connectors must be positioned in the part of the cable duct that is covered by the cab in its lowered position. It is therefore not per-mitted to move the DIN connectors behind the rear wall of the cab by loosening the cable ties around the DIN connector cables.

• The cables to and from the junction box in an ADR-classed installation must also be ADR-classed

• The earth connection in the junction box (earth plate in retaining screw) must only be used as a junction point

All vehicles can be factory-fitted with an ADR-classed cable harness for further con-nection of DIN connectors C486, C487 and C488. The extension cables are multicore cables and available in different lengths. The number of cables that the vehicle is fit-ted with depends on which variant of the option Routed cable harness for bodybuild-er (variant family 2411) the vehicle is specified with.

The option includes a loose ADR-classed junction box connected by the bodybuilder.

The individual cables in multicore cables that are connected to a DIN connector must have the same markings and colours. At the other end, the cable harness consists of loose cables without connectors.

The extension cable harness and junction box are not connected when the truck is de-livered. If the cab is fitted with a bed, then the cable harness and junction box are lo-cated in the side compartment under the bed, otherwise they are located in front of the passenger seat.

Each cable must use its own lead through in the junction box. If all eight lead throughs in the junction box are occupied, new holes with the same diameter as the existing ones may be drilled in the underside of the junction box.

Use the lead throughs supplied with the junction box. If additional lead throughs are required, equivalent lead throughs must be used. Make sure that the cables form a seal with the lead throughs to prevent dirt from entering the junction box.
