IntroductIon: At the first community meeting, participants were introduced to the neighborhood planning process, reviewed the guiding principles for the process, and engaged in small group discussions about the Westwood neighborhood. The primary purpose of the meeting was to introduce the neighborhood plan, collect feedback on the Guiding Principles, and listen to participants discuss their neighborhood. Roughly 45 community stakeholders were in attendance.

IntroduccIón:En la primera reunión de la comunidad, los participantes fueron introducidos en el proceso de planificación del vecindario, revisaron los principios rectores del proceso, y se dedicaron a pequeños grupos de discusión acerca de su barrio. El propósito principal de la reunión fue presentar el plan de barrio, recoger información sobre los principios rectores, y escuchar a los participantes discutir su barrio. IntroductIon by councIlman lopez: This plan will be a blueprint for the neighborhood, and will be a living document that addresses more than just zones on a map. Westwood is a unique neighborhood, both in its development patterns and its culture and this plan will build upon the resilient, strong and colorful residents.

What is an hia?A Health Impact Assessment (HIA) is a way to evaluate how a project or plan will affect a group’s health, and to identify actions that can prevent or manage the harmful health effects. The HIA will be done by Environmental Health in conjunction with the Neigh-borhood Plan and able to provide recommendations specific on improving overall community health.

What is an hia?Una Evaluación del Impacto Sanitario (EIS) es una manera de evaluar cómo un proyecto o plan afectará a la salud de un grupo, y determinar las medidas que pueden prevenir o controlar riesgos para la salud. La EIS se hará por el Departamento de Salud Ambiental en conjunto con el Plan del Vecindario y proporcionara recomendaciones específicas para mejorar la salud general en la comunidad.
