What is BRT ?Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is a high-quality bus-based transit system that delivers fast, comfortable, and low cost urban mobility. This system attempts to combine the capacity and speed of a light rail or a metro system with the flexibility, simplicity, safety and affordability of a bus system.

HDBRTSA dedicated four lane Bus Rapid Transit corridor is being developed between the twin cities of Hubli–Dharwad for facilitating fast, safe, comfortable, convenient and affordable public transport system. The proposed Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system will not only transport the 1.75 lakh daily passengers currently using the buses on this corridor, but will also provide safe and efficient alternative for the private vehicle users travelling on this corridor.

A half day workshop on the HDBRTS project was organized for the HDMC members on 11th September 2014. Mayor of HDMC, Deputy Mayor and around 50 corporators of HDMC participated in the workshop. MD HDBRTS presented the HDBRTS project and its features. The presentation concluded with the question and answer session with the audience.

In the month of September 2014, presentations regarding HDBRTS project were conducted in Vijay Nagar B.Ed College, Hubli and P.C.Jabin Science College, Hubli. College Students and Faculty members from these colleges activity participated in the program.

A two day Janmarg study tour to Ahmedabad was organised by HDBRTSCo for the Environmental groups in Hubli-Dharwad on 5th and 6th of August 2014. The team studies the various environmental initiatives that Janmarg had implemented as part of the BRTS system in Ahmedabad.
