WHAT IS CONNECTIONS?

Connections is a faculty learning community Connections is comprised of “veteran” faculty

members who have been at CCBC for more than five years

Members work on a pedagogy project, either individually or in collaboration with other group members

CONNECTIONS PROJECTS

“E-portfiolio Development” is the theme for this 2011-12 Connections cohort

Project goals: Collaboration with at least one other area of the

college to enhance teaching and learning by developing one new major strategy for improving student learning

Positive impact of the project on students, people, departments, and/or disciplines both inside and outside of the participants of the learning community

Public sharing of project final report so that others can benefit from what was gained

Renuka Kumar CSIT 101, Introduction to Computers ePortfolio Project

In CSIT 101 students learn computer concepts as well as Word, Excel and PPT

For the project students develop an ePortfolio on www.weebly.com

Students must create the following documents and upload them to there ePortfolio Resume – using Word Schedule/Transcript – using Excel Presentation – using PowerPoint

They also must present their ePortfolio to the class

THE PROJECTS Marilyn Kuzsma CMDP 251: Practicum in Chemical Dependency Counseling Developing an E-portfolio of Assignments from the Course

In this course, students produce 5 assignment that demonstrate their achievement of the CMDP Program Outcomes.

Using the Epsilen platform, students will develop an E-portfolio consisting of these assignments.

Epsilen was chosen because it is both portable and password protected.

Students can use the E-portfolio to provide a sample of their work to prospective employers and for admission to 4 year colleges.

In the future, the E-portfolio will be instrumental in providing both internal and external evaluations of the students’ work.

- make sure there is opening / signature page

- more of faculty activities are reflected

- no system for electronic storage, so the e-portfolios had to be printed.
