13 It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the

promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by

faith. 

18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so

became the father of many nations, just as it had been

said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” 19 Without

weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body

was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred

years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. 20 Yet

he did not waver through unbelief regarding the

promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being

fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had

promised.

Hope holds onto a promise.

PASTOR’S POINTS:

Promise #1 - Your faith in Jesus Christ saves you. (Romans 1:16, 10:9)

Promise #2 - Jesus Christ has set you free. (Romans 8:1-2, 6:22)

Promise #3 - God is for you. (Romans 5:8, 8:31-32)

Promise #4 - God is always up to something good. (Romans 8:28, 8:18)

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

• What are some things you hoped for (like a personal wish) when you were younger that you never received? How would you describe the difference between how we describe hope today and biblical hope?

• Read Romans 4:18-21 and imagine you were Abraham during the 25 years between the promise of God for offspring and the fulfillment of that promise. What thoughts would be going through your mind? How would you have held onto hope? Today, how do you hold onto your hope in Jesus?

• Look at the four promises from the book of Romans and read the verses where those promises are found. Which promise are you putting your hope in this week? Why?

• 로마서 4 장 18-21 절을 읽어봆시다. 언약이 이루어질동안 25 년간 기다린

아브라함이 되엇다고 가정해봅시다. 어떤 생각들이 들었을까요? 계속 희망을

붙들엇을까요? 예수님안에 오늘은 어떻게 희망을 붙들고 있나요?

• 로마서에 나와잇는 네가지 언약들을 살펴봅시다. 어떤 언약이 제일 마음에

와닿고 이번주 희망할수 있을까요? 이유는 무엇인가요?

羅馬書 4：13, 18-21 13因為神應許亞伯拉罕和他後裔必得承受世界，不是因律法，乃是因信而得的義。

18他在無可指望的時候，因信仍有指望，就得以作多國的父，正如先前所說：“你的後

裔將要如此。”19他將近百歲的時候，雖然想到自己的身體如同已死、撒拉的生育已經

斷絕，他的信心還是不軟弱。20並且仰望神的應許，總沒有因不信心裏起疑惑，反倒因

信心裏得堅固，將榮耀歸給神。21且滿心相信神所應許的必能做成。

拉已經九十歲了，還能生養嗎？” 羅馬書 1：16 16我不以福音為恥；這福音本是神的大能，要救一切相信的，先是猶太人，後是希利

尼人。 羅馬書 10：9 9你若口裏認耶穌為主，心裏信神叫祂從死裏復活，就必得救。

羅馬書 8：1-2 1如今，那些在基督耶穌裏的就不定罪了。

2因為賜生命的聖靈的律在基督耶穌裏釋放

了我，使我脫離罪和死的律了。 羅馬書 6：22 22但現今你們既從罪裏得了釋放，作了神的奴仆，就有成聖的果子，那結局就是永生！

羅馬書 5：8 8惟有基督在我們還作罪人的時候為我們死，神的愛就在此向我們顯明了。

羅馬書 8：18, 28, 31-32 18我想，現在的苦楚若比起將來要顯於我們的榮耀，就不足介意了。

28我們曉得萬事都互相效力，叫愛神的人得益處，就是按祂旨意被召的人。

31既是這樣，還有什麽說的呢？神若幫助我們，誰能抵擋我們呢？

32神既不愛惜自己的

兒子為我們眾人舍了，豈不也把萬物和祂一同白白的賜給我們嗎？

選一個應許，在看来似乎不可能的情況下

仍然持續相信盼望神的應許必定成就。
