The Word of the Lord

Romans 3:9-20

9 What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin. 10 As it is written:

11 there is no one who understands;there is no one who seeks God.

12 All have turned away,they have together become worthless;

there is no one who does good,not even one

13

their tongues practice deceit

14

15

16 ruin and misery mark their ways,17

18

19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be

the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

Title goes here“Justified”

Romans 1:16-1716 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written,

17 This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight (NLT).

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.

28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.32 Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Romans 3:10, 2010 No one is righteous, no not one.20 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.

BAD NEWS/GOOD NEWS

•We cannot justify ourselves.

•We must take ownership of our sins.

Romans 3:21-2621 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it22 the righteousness of God through faith in

Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.

This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

BAD NEWS/GOOD NEWSABOUT OUR RIGHTNESS

•We cannot justify ourselves.

•We must take ownership of our sins.

• Jesus alone provides our justification.

Romans 5:1, 9-10

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from

through him! 10 For if, while we we were reconciled to him

through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Hear the sweet voice of Jesus say,

"Come unto me, I am the way;"

Harken, the loving call obey;

Come for He loves you so.

Come to the cross, the world may frown;

Yet you shall wear a glorious crown,

When He makes up His own.

Open, for you, the pearly gate;

Loved ones for you now watch and wait;

Terrible thought, to cry "too late"—

"Jesus, I come to Thee."
