1. Description The BM 26A/BM26B/BM26G is a simple, rugged instrument designed to indicate level or interface of liquid. It is a totally metal design, with optional level transmitter and limit switch for alarming. It indicates level using a float magnetically coupled to an index or a column of rotating flaps. It is ideal for aggressive media stored in tanks when the PTFE lining option is used.
It is widely used in petrochemical, chemical, metal, power, food, pharmaceutical, paper industry for level
and interface measurement.
2. Operating principle The BM 26 operates on the principle of communicating tubes. The measuring tube is connected as a side vessel to the tank so that the same conditions are obtained in the tube as those in the tank.
The float is equipped with a system of permanent magnets to transmit measured value to the local indicator. The magnet system of the float activates the magnetic flaps according to the liquid level, or a movable follower magnet in the indicating section of the indicator. The column of reversed yellow magnetic flaps, or the vertical position of the follower magnet, is the indication of the liquid level.

3 Product features

3.1 BM26A features
• Operating pressure should be less than 5.0 MPa.
• Operating temperature should be less than 400 (for Ex requirement, less than 200).
• Min. operating temperature is -200.
• Density should be higher than 0.5 g/cm3.
• For interface measurement, the difference of density should be higher than 0.1 g/cm3.
• IP68 sealed glass tube with magnetic flapper or index inside.
• Suitable in corrosive, sandy and windy, rainy environment.
• PTFE liner and plastic material are optional.
• Easy to change indicator, optional heat jacket and isolation.
• Signal outputs are both intrinsically safe and explosive-proof proved.
3.2 BM26B features
• Best volume and pressure ratio.
• Optimized construction design with low weight.
3.3 BM26G features
• Nominal pressure up to 25 MPa.
• Operating temperature: -200…+400.
• Min. density: 0.4 g/cm3.

4. BM26A/BM26B/BM26G
The BM26A/B/G consists of a measuring tube, which is connected as a side vessel to the tank with different material options, an indicator isolated totally from the process, some signal output like limit switch, current output.

10. BM26A float selection
The floats of BM26A consist of standard and special design.
10.1 Standard float
The indicator should be installed according to the X value
showed in below picture, which is the distance between
the magnet and center line of bottom flange.
Advantage:
The standard float can be used interchangeably. If the
density changed, adjust the indicator position according to X value.
Serial production with some inventory
Reliable and stable measurement
Note: compared with the special float, there is a difference between
the real level and the rotated flapper, but the indicated value is correct.
Suggest to choose the standard float. BM26A standard float
10.2 Special float
The zero position of indicator is exactly the same with centerline of the bottom flange, no difference between the
real level and the rotated flapper, as below picture. The special float is named as T type.
Advantage:
No difference between the real level and rotated flapper,
the same with glass level gauge.
Note:
Adjust the weight of the float to keep the real level the same
with the magnet. Different density with different float weight.
The float is not able to exchange, without serial production.
The liquid density must be accurate.

15. level transmitter
15.1 Principle In addition to the local indicator, the BM 26 can be equipped with the ER analog transmitter system. This transmitter consists of a tube that clamped onto the measuring tube and with reed and resistor chain inside, a housing with converter inside to provide the current output. The moveable float will activate different reeds when level changing, also provide different resistance value and then convert to 4…20mA current output.
For non-Ex application, ER transmitter provide 4…20 mA current output directly.
For Exd application, choose the explosive-proof transmitter housing with marking Ex d IIC T3-T6.
For Exi application, please connect suitable related apparatus to the transmitter. Ex marking :ExiaIICT3-T6.

The BM26/…/ER/Exi has been approved by NEPSI(National Supervision and
Inspection Center for Explosion Protection and Safety of Instrumentation in
China) under Certification No.

This level meter is designed with intrinsically safe type of protection with
protection level of Ex ia IIC T3-T6 and designed according to GB 3836.1-2010,
GB 3836.4-2010 and GB 3836.20-2010 standards. It must be equipped with
safety barrier to form intrinsically safe explosion protective system and applies to
fields exist explosive mixture gas under IIC grade.
Please comply with following notes when installation:
1. The level meter must be equipped with safety barrier approved by NEPSI,
then can be used in environment with explosive gas mixture. Please pay
attention to the cable connection which must be complied with the
instruction of both.
2. Safety barrier must be placed in secure location and complied with the
installation instruction.
3. Intrinsically safe data:
Ui=28V li=120mA Pi=0.84W Ci=22nF Li=0
The connection cable between level meter and safety barrier must be
shielded (with insulation sheath). The cross section area of each wire must
be higher than 0.5 mm2. The shielding layer must be grounded at safety
location. Please avoid the electromagnetic interference when cable
distribution. The level meter with safety barrier must be meet following
requirement:
Uo≤Ui, Io≤Ii, Po≤Pi, Co≥Ci+Cc, Lo≥Li+Lc
Uo, Io, Po, Co and Lo are intrinsically safe type output data and external
allowable data. Cc and Lc are respectively capacitance and inductance of
connection cable. The relation between temperature class and measuring
temperature is as bellowed.

and Inspection Center for Explosion Protection and Safety of
Instrumentation in China) under Certification No.

This level meter is designed with explosive-proof type of protection with
protection level of Ex d IIC T3-T6 and designed according to GB 3836.1-
2010, GB 3836.2-2010 standards.
1. The level meter should be grounded.
2. Pay attention to the warning marking “open the transmitter
housing after power cutoff” when maintenance.
3. The outer diameter of the connecting cable must be within
the sealing range of the cable entry (8.5-10mm). please
fasten the gland nut to fasten cable sheath.
4. Sealing ring and cable sheath should be replace in time
when it is aged.
5. The voltage, current and power should be complied with
the specified value.
6. Maintenance must be carried out at secure location.
Please be sure that no hazardous gas around before
maintenance.
7. The surface temperature should complied with the
temperature class.
For both intrinsically safe and explosive-proof type of
protection, the level meter should be installed, operated
and repaired according to the technical datasheet of the
meter, part 15 of GB3836.15-2010 and GB50058-1992.

16.4 MS15/BRX reed switch
It is also a kind of reed switch which can be activated by the float magnet. The minimum distance between two switches
is 50mm. explosive proof housing is available.

16: Limit switch In order to provide alarm for a specific level, the BM 26 magnetic level indicator can be equipped with various limit switches that are clamped to the measuring tube and thus adjustable over the whole measuring range. They are activated by the magnet system in the float. Depending on different operating conditions, various limit switches are available. 16.1 MS15/MC The MS15/MC limit switch is a micro switch that is activated by the magnet system in the float. 16.2 MS40、MS40/NAMUR Reed Switch

16.3 KS Series Switch KS series limit switches consist of reed switch and micro switch.
It is a multi-function switch, suitable for all BM26 products. It is
activated by the float magnet, with the option of explosive proof
