T he Wels fair is always eagerly awaited, thanksalso to the large number of horse breeds that arepresented during the entire event. Obviously the

strong interest that the Arabian horse always generatesensured that our beloved friend played a primary role in it.Throughout the event the stands were always full of specta-tors, whose cheering was even louder than in previousyears. Not everyone knows that the event dedicated to theArabian horse is, as usual, organized by Mr. FerdinandHuemer. Despite not having a sector sponsor, his commen-dable commitment made sure that everything ran smoothly.The Sunday presentation, open to everyone, was also veryenjoyable and gave us an opportunity to see some real gemsfrom the Movida Arabians stud and from that of Mario

La fiera di Wells è, da sempre, un appuntamentomolto atteso grazie anche alle numerose razze equi-ne presentate durante i giorni della manifestazione.

Naturalmente il forte richiamo del cavallo arabo ha fatto sì,ancora una volta, che il nostro beniamino recitasse un ruolodi primo piano. L’evento quindi è stato accompagnato dalletribune gremite e da una partecipazione calorosa del pubbli-co ancor più forte rispetto agli scorsi anni. Non tutti sannoche la manifestazione dedicata al cavallo arabo è, da sempre,organizzata dal sig. Ferdinand Huemer, senza sponsor disettore ma grazie all’impegno profuso dall’organizzatore, siè sempre organizzato un evento ben riuscito. Bella anche lapresentazione domenicale, aperta a tutti, in cui abbiamopotuto ammirare alcune perle dell’allevamento Movida

Arabians e quello del campione di sci Mario Matt. Nonsono mancati ospiti eccellenti da tutto il mondo tra cui l’al-levatrice Lenita Perroy. Un ottimo servizio ai tavoli vip, unfacile accesso ai parcheggi, ampi box, un ottimo ring edun’eccellente coreografia, fanno di Wells una tappa fonda-mentale nel panorama internazionale. Nella manifestazionefieristica, oltre a dimostrazioni delle più varie disciplineequestri, sono state organizzate delle presentazioni di alcuniesemplari di lama, grande richiamo per i più piccoli e nonsolo, oltre a svariati padiglioni dedicati alle attrezzatureequestri. Da sempre sono organizzati, in contemporanea,due eventi inerenti il cavallo arabo, il campionato nazionalee quello internazionale, elevato il numero dei partecipanti edi buona qualità al concorso nazionale austriaco, un segnale

Two events connected with the Arabianhorse are usually organized at the same time, the AustrianNational and the International Championships. The for-mer saw a high number of participants and good quality,an excellent sign of the vitality of the market, consideringthe absence of some prestigious studs from the Arab coun-tries. There is no doubt that this, on the one hand, encoura-ged the participation of many more European breeders,which had the opportunity of taking part in a class A com-petition and obtain a good result, if not even to win – andwe all know that winning a competition of this importantenhances the prestige of the owner but also increases the eco-nomic value of the horse. On the other hand, given theabsence of the Arab Countries, some studs that nowadaysdo not usually stand many chances to win decided to comeback to shows with a renewed desire to excel. Wels is set tobecome an appointment especially for European horses.Italy contributed with some excellent quality horses, thanksto the two studs with (currently) the best potential,Fontanella Magic Arabians and Arabian training CenterCa’ di Gianni. Both obtained excellent results and wenthome with two Champions in the international event. Thejury of the Austrian National was composed by GianmarcoAragno (Italy), Vico Rocco (BRA), Francesco Santoro (IT)and Michael Byatt (USA). For information on theAustrian National and on the categories, see the tables atthe end of this article. It is worth drawing your attentionto the fantastic success obtained by the studs of Mario Mattat the International Champion, of Movida Arabians, AlHambra Arabians and TM Arabians with their handlers -Franck Sponle and Paolo Capecci for Movida Arabians,Franck Sponle also for Al Hambra Mario Matt’s stud,Mary Lang and Scott Allmann for TM Arabians.Rewarding results and good performances were also shownby Gestut Trummer, Claudia Pistorius, MutthalerElisabette and Otto Gurschler. As for the special prizeawarded to the best horse born in Austria, the victory wentto TM Arabians with the female TM Valentina and themale Lorenzo El Bri from Mario Matt’s stud. Di ottima qualità il contributoportato per l’Italia dai due training center con, al momento,il maggior potenziale, Fontanella Magic Arabians eArabian Training Center Cà di Gianni. Entrambi hannoottenuto ottimi risultati e ben due Campioni nell’interna-zionale. La giuria del nazionale era composta dal dr.Gianmarco Aragno (IT), dal sig. vatore, pensate che ha allevato anche la mamma della pule-dra. Riserva Campionessa Puledre la sempre più bellaLamana (Laman hvp x Miriam II) per la gioia del suo alle-vatore e proprietario Sax Arabians che in questo concorsointernazionale ha ottenuto ottimi risultati così come il pro-prio handler, Simon Kelly. Sax riesce anche ad ottenere conl’altra bella puledra, vincitrice della categoria di due anni,Farida Bint Khidar (Khidar x Farids Mandolin) il titolo diTop Five. Ottimi risultati per l’Italia, dicevamo, con la sem-pre più bella e tipica Magic Meta (Winsdsprees Mirage xMp Almaas) presentata da Frederick van Sans, che conqui-sta il titolo di top five, con grande soddisfazione del suoproprietario, Paolo Persia, che quest’anno, con la stessaMagic Meta, aveva potuto festeggiare tre vittorie nel mede-simo concorso, a Travagliato, conquistando il concorso int.“B”, l’Arabitalia ed il titolo di Best in show. Altra soddisfa-zione per il programma allevatoriale di Fontanella MagicArabians Team e per il grande riproduttore WindspreesMirage. Altra puledra che entra nei top five e che si conti-nua a distinguere a livello internazionale è DA Africa(Massai ibn Marenga x Aplikala) di Gianpaolo Gubbiotti,allevata dalla famiglia Darius proprietaria di un altro granderiproduttore, Massai ibn Marenga appunto. DA Africa conil suo handler Paolo Capecci, ha vinto la categoria sia aTravagliato sia a Porto S. Elpidio, concorsi in cui ha poiconquistato il titolo di Riserva campionessa, mentre in que-sta occasione, giunta seconda in categoria, è riuscita a con-quistare il titolo di top five, un palmares davvero invidiabileanche per lei. Per i puledri, presentato magistralmente daScott Allmann, Bolero EM (Shakhar Ibn Bengali x Bawda)conquista meritatamente il titolo di Campione, grazieanche all’ottima performance e dall’alto punteggio conqui-stato in categoria. Riserva Campione Puledri l ’ottimoCampione Puledri Austriaco MM Fabrizio (Ch El Brillo xMfa Forgetmenot) di proprietà di Mario Matt e presentatoda Franck Sponle, un puledro davvero tipico e molto cari-smatico. Altra soddisfazione per Mario Matt che con l’altropuledro giunto in finale, MM Samuel (Lorenzo El Bri xSayonara El Bri) presentato da Paolo Capecci, riesce a con-quistare l’ambito titolo di top five. Top five anche per AbaKalani Khan (Ali Khan x Verbala) allevato e di proprietà diLibole Wagner presentato da Mary Lang che ne ha esaltatoil movimento. The cha-rismatic Kaseem (Kubinec x Kassia), owned by StockleAnton and winner of the young stallions category, won thetitle of Reseve Stallion Champion, thanks also to its out-standing movement which was very much appreciated andunderlined by the spectators. Top Five for two furthermulti-champion stallions: Mahadin (Madkour I xMahamen) owned by Hambrt Stud and this time presen-ted by Frederick van Sans – a handler who becomes moreskilful at every show and has undoubtedly a great futureahead of him – and Psyrasyc (Psytadel x Karoba) owned byAlbydayer Stud, which took another title back to the UAE,thanks also to the contribution of Scott Allmann. The ren-dezvous is for next year in Wels, where enjoyment will cer-tainly be guaranteed.
