Started in the early 1600s, in New Orleans, USA.

Originally comes from US and Africa.

Jazz has been a part proud African American tradition for 100 years.

Jazz referred as ‘Americas Classical Music’.

Jazz spans range of music from ragtime to present day period 100 years.

Drew on different national, regional and local music cultures.

Played a faster tempo and used more chord based improvisation.
