Method 1I completed the research by two ways: interview and

survey. In total I gathered sixteen cases, eight by interview

and eight by survey. Among the sixteen people, ten are boys and six are girls. There are ten elementary school students, four middle school students and two adults.

Almost all of my samples come from my friends and classmates; only one sample comes from a stranger.

Learning English on a computer is fun. 50% of people I surveyed like to learn

English on a computer because they think it is fun. But at the same time 37.5% of people have a different idea. I found out that they are older than those who like learning English on a computer.

Do you think that all Chinese children should learn English? The answers to this question were surprising. 50%

of the people I surveyed disagree that all Chinese children should learn English. Maybe they think that if all Chinese children learn English, too many English teachers would be needed. In fact, we don’t have enough English teachers in China, especially in the countryside.

Result 3Usually, people use English in three situations: when

studying at school, doing English homework, and surfing the Internet. They rarely use English when talking with friends, doing work, or shopping.

Most people like learning English by reading and watching movies, but they don’t like memorizing English words.

Afterword It was amazing for me that finally I’ve completed this hard project.

I learned many skills of doing research: interviewing people, asking people to fill in questionnaires, making presentations, and writing data analysis papers. It also helps me to learn English.

Thanks Dr. Kathy for her teaching and kindness.

Thanks Louis and Jane, my teachers in Rise, for their help.

Thanks to Mom, I know how to write data analysis.

Thanks to Dad, I have the photos of myself doing research.

Now I know that working is hard but also happy!
