The Russians found Alaska in 1741. People came to America by crossing

Alaska. Alaska got its name from a word that

means shore. In the 19th century traders and explorers

came to Alaska.

The Bering Sea is in the west. Alaska is the biggest state. 5% of Alaska is ice. Mount Mckinly is in the east. Glacier Bay is in the south east. The state capital is in the south east. Alaska pernicila is in the south east.

Alaska known for volcano eroptions and earthqaucks.

The warmest its ever been is 100˚F. The coldest its ever been is -80˚F. Averige is 70˚in the summer and in the

winter it is -25˚.

Bering was born in 1681 in Horsen, Jutland.

He was married and had 7 kids. Bering joined the navy in 1703. He spent most of his life exploring. Bering died in 1741 on Bering Island.

Alaska is home to the bigest fish in the nation and its name is halibut.

Parts of Alaska gets 24 hours of darkness in the winter and 24 hours of daylight in the summer.

You can see the Northern Lights. The state sport is dog mushing. Alaska has over 2,000 brown bears. The state bird is the willow ptarmigan.
