Valleys and mountains cover the land variety and plants. Canadas Waterton National Park share the border between The United States and Canada. Together the two make up the International Peace Park. International Peace Park Slide 4 Culture There were many American Indians in Glacier National Park American Indians have lived in Glacier National Park for more than 10,000 years The Blackfeet, the Kalispel, the Kootenai, the Salish, and the Flathead were all early residents of the area The Blackfeet controlled most of the land. Going to the Sun Road Slide 5 Waterways There are many bodies of water in Glacier National Park. Some of the valleys filled with melted ice, the melted ice turned into lakes. Glacier also changed the colors of some lakes in the park. The powder fell into the lakes, some of the powder turned the lakes turquoise. St Mary Lake Slide 6 Rocks and Minerals There are many rocks and minerals in Glacier National Park. Rocks and soil under the water slowly hardened into thick layers of Limestone, Mudstone, and Sandstone. One rock plate slid over another rock plate, the rocks piled up to create mountains.
