Plot Summary.

Introduces the Sniper and it takes place in Dublin.

Lights his cigarette and gives away his position.

People start firing at him.

The sniper gets shot.

He devises a plan and finally shoots his enemy.

The Sniper looks into the face of the guy he just killed and realized it was his brother.

He feels remorse and sadness after killing his enemy.

Runs across the street to identify his enemy.

He is attacked by a machine gun and dodges it landing by the dead body.

Protagonist: Sniper vs. Antagonist: Enemy

Theme: Determination to continue mission at all costs.

Characters: The Sniper, Enemy soldiers.

Conflict: Sniper has to take down his targets, but he gets noticed. He has to find a way to get out alive.

Situation/Climate:Sniper gets noticed and can’t escape.

Conflict!

• Man vs. Man: It is the sniper against the enemy.

• Man vs. Self: He is hurt and still goes to kill the enemy. Becomes depressed because he kills his own brother.

• Determination to continue mission at all costs no matter what.

“Then he lay still against the parapet and closing his eyes, he made an effort of will to overcome the pain.”

“Pressing his lips together he took a deep breath through nostrils and fired.”

“He must kill that enemy and he could not use his rifle. He had only a revolver to do it. Then he thought of a plan.”

• Point of view: 3rd person point of view.• Setting: On a rooftop and street near

O’Connell Bridge in Dublin, Ireland during the Irish Civil War, 1920s.

The mood• Violent: Takes place during the

war and the sniper is under fire and gets wounded. Also, he kills the enemy.

• Depressing: In the end he finds out the enemy was his brother and he killed him.

• Intense: The whole time they are both risking death.

Reflection!

• It was overall a good story and it had an interesting twist. It included much action to suck the reader into the story. The narrator made the story full of suspense making the reader wonder if the sniper would survive. The tension built as the plot went on. The Sniper is a great story for people who enjoy action and suspense.
