The ( MLB ) or Major League baseball is separated into two groups.

There is an American League and a National League.

When the American League and the National League play each other it is known as a rivalry game.

An example of this is the New York Yankees vs. the Boston Red Sox.

AMERICAN LEAGUE VS. NATIONAL LEAGUE

The main difference in the American League and the National League is that, “American League uses the

designated hitter rule to replace pitchers during at-bats, and the National League does not.” ( Brinson )

New York Yankees designated hitter, Travis Hafner.

The American League has a tenth player unlike the National League.“ This extra player, called the designated hitter ( DH ), bats in place of the pitcher.” ( World Book )

“ The National League was formed in 1876, is the older of the two leagues that make up the professional Major League Baseball organization in the United States and Canada.” ( Brinson )

Unlike the American League the National League does not use a designated hitter.

CONCLUSIONThe baseball Leagues have had a good

impact on people because it gives them something to look forward to and enjoy. These Leagues also opens up many jobs for the unemployed. I still wonder what persuaded Albert Goodwill Spalding and William Hulbert to create the National League.
