England was angered even more, because refused to trade with them.

Olive Branch Petition Written because of a desire of peace

from the colonists. Stated that colonists were loyal to

the king. Asked to repeal Intolerable Acts and

to restore peace. King George III rejected it and

blockaded American ports to punish the colonies

Declaration of Independence

By June of 1776 Thomas Jefferson was writing the Declaration of Independence

After it was debated, it was finally approved and signed on July 4, 1776.

House Began due to Lexington and Concord Officially declared colonies in State of
