Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta,

Georgia on January 15, 1929. In 1954, he became a pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a member of the executive committee of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People alongside Rosa Parks. He traveled over six million miles and spoke over twenty-five hundred times. In 1963, he lead a peaceful march of 25,000 people where he delivered his “I Have A Dream” speech.

Medgar EversMedgar Evers was born near Decatur, Mississippi on July 2,

1925. In 1943 he was inducted into the army. After serving in Normandy, he went to Alcon College, majoring in business administration. In 1951, he received his B.A. degree. During this time he began to establish local chapters of the NAACP.

19, 1925. In 1946, he was convicted of burglary and sentenced to ten years imprisonment. In 1964, he left the Nation of Islam and established his own religious organization, the Organization of Afro-American Unity.
