BuzziSpace RT60

Meet your new best friend! When decorating a space, we often think of only the most visible items: tables, chairs, and curtains. But what we do not see — the acoustics of the room — is too often forgotten.

BuzziSpace RT60 for iPhone and iPod touch measures the reverberation time and allows you to easily simulate the impact BuzziSpace products would have on your room acoustics.

Before we go… Our app only runs on iPhone 4S and newer, and 5th generation iPod touch and newer. Although it’s possible to run the app on iPad, it’s not specifically designed for it at the moment. It is also highly recommended to attend our BuzziSpace Acoustics: Advanced webinar. This way you make sure to get the most out of the app.

Getting started We recommend deleting the original app from your mobile device prior to downloading it from the App Store. If you wish to save your old  measurements from the previous version, just drop the results in your own mailbox by sharing the saved data.

When updating your app in the future, your previously saved measurements will stay exactly where you expect them to be.

Download the app by opening the App Store on your iPhone or iPod touch and search for BuzziSpace RT60. Or make your life easier by using this link: https://goo.gl/i5EUmn.

Tap the Get button and wait till the app is fully downloaded and installed. Next, you’ll find our freshly updated app ready on your home screen.

Requesting an invitation When launching the app for the first time, you will receive a short introduction. This introduction will help you get going with the BuzziSpace RT60 in a matter of minutes.

Next, tap Request Invitation in order to get your personal activation key. Our Acoustic team will then register you as a user and an activation key is sent automatically (make sure to check your spam folder). Upon receiving this e-mail, you have two options to kick-off:

1. Tap Let me in to open BuzziSpace RT60 with the code filled in for you. You’re all set to go! 2. Copy the 6-digit key and Enter invitation code to start working that acoustic magic!

Settings Go to Settings > RT60 to review your current preferences and/or edit some of them.

Allow RT60 to access your Microphone in order to record sounds inside a room. If you disable the microphone, you can still use the app but you won’t be able to make new recordings.

Allow access to Mobile data if you want to save, share or load a measurement when you’re on the road. Be aware, carrier costs can apply.

You can now Store your measurements in iCloud. With this great new feature, you can now securely save, backup and sync your measurements across all your devices. Please refer to Apple support regarding questions about iCloud.

Wherever you’re working on this planet, we have the right unit of measurement for you. Choose between the Metric and Imperial system.

Studio The first time you open the app, we provide you with a brief Introduction to room acoustics, the way BuzziSpace products improve your wellbeing and how the BuzziSpace RT60 can become your #1 tool!

The Studio is the real workhorse of the BuzziSpace RT60. This is where you make a recording to use in your simulation.

In order to make a proper, correct recording, we advise you to grab a balloon and fill it with air. This balloon will act as your primary sound source. Place your mobile device approximately 1m/3ft from the sound source. You get the best results if you keep your device mid-air and yourself in the center of the room.

Now tap Start and pop the balloon!

BuzziSpace RT60 records the popping of the balloon and starts analyzing the reverberation time for each individual octave.

Room size In order to calculate the recommended RT60 for the room you’re standing in, you’ll have to tell the app the length, width and height of this room. The larger the volume of your room, the longer it is ok for the sound to bounce around the room. Tap the green button with the calculated room size to confirm.

Laboratory This is where the real magic happens! Add some virtual BuzziSpace products to your room and simulate their impact on the reverberation time and your acoustic comfort.

The circled number in the center of the screen tells you the calculated RT60 in your room. Once you add some products, you will immediately see the simulated RT60 drop.

Both original and simulated reverberation times are brought together in this comprehensible graph.

• The original reverberation time is shown by the faded white graph.

• The simulated reverberation time is shown by the solid white graph.

• The two dark green lines indicate the recommended RT60 zone.

When you can bring the solid white line between the 2 dark green lines, you’ve hit the sweet spot!

—“Tap start and pop the balloon!” Now it’s time to add some virtual BuzziSpace products from the Catalog. From the main Studio screen, tap the + sign in the bottom right corner to open up the catalog.

Scroll through the different product families and tap one to pick a specific variant of that family.

Use the stepper control to add or remove products. Most of our freestanding products are to be added separately. Our wall and floor applications can be added per square meter/foot

Tap the ! sign in order to close the catalog and review the impact of your intervention by looking at the circled value and the graph.

Menu You can access the app’s menu right from the Studio. In order to do this, tap the " sign in the top left corner.

# New recording lets you start over and make a new recording. Be sure to save your current measurement if you’d like to work on it again later.

$ Measurements gives you access to all your saved and synced projects. Your original measurement is saved together with the interventions you made in that project.

To save a project, first, enter the name of your project in the upper text field and then tap the + icon.

By swiping a project to the right, you can Share it. Deleting a project can be done by swiping a project to the left and tapping the Delete button.

& Introduction leads you back to the introduction screen that popped up the first time you used the app. This is a great place to go to when you want to refresh your acoustic knowledge.
