Following my recent retirement I have been overwhelmed with the level of support which I have received from so many members of the community over the past number of weeks. I would sincerely like to thank all those who sent their good wishes, Mass cards, cards, flowers and gifts. I must give a special word of thanks to the Board of Management and the Parents’ Association of the school for the beautiful gifts which they presented to me on the occasion of my retirement.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to the Priests of the Parish, Canon John K. and Father Robert, who celebrated a beautiful mass in the school on 25th October last; to the staff and the pupils of the School who prepared and sang so beautifully at that mass; to the members of the Board of Management, Parents’ Association, Public Representatives, Canon David Williams, parents, past pupils and members of the com-munity who attended on the day; to the parents who provided refreshments and those who served them on the day; to Eileen Dwyer, the dancing instructor, and the staff and children who provided entertainment throughout the afternoon of 25th October. It was a truly memorable day and I thank you all for making such a special effort for me.

I would like to give a special mention to Mr. Virgil Horgan, the Chairperson of the Board of Management, who organised a wonderful farewell function for me and my family in Actons Hotel on 15th November last and to all who assisted Virgil in making that such a pleasant and enjoyable evening, including Rose O’Regan and her musical group who provided the entertainment. I am very grateful to all those who attended on the night to wish me well.
